National - Event Notice Thursday January 01 1970 Protest against the government that has let us down.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For too long the Irish people have had to settle for excuses when we seek answers from our government. Not once have we gotten a straight or wholly truthful answer. We ask why it is that the people that are most affected by the recession are punished while those that presided over it, those that perpetrated it, get off with a slap on the wrist. In this country we do not always speak out when we need to. We have become complacent. The belief held by the general public is that while the government may have "screwed up" there is no better alternative. The public seems to believe that standing up and saying no is the wrong thing to do. Our unions fight back time and again for what they believe they are entitled to but these demonstrations of opposition are few and far between and all too fleeting. |
