It's not 'CSE'. It's child rape, says Joanna Gray. Enough with the sterile acronyms that seem designed to conceal the horror. Enough of the "bewitchment of our intelligence by means of language" (Wittgenstein).

It's going to take more than a Supreme Court judgment to flush gender pseudoscience out of the NHS, says Caroline Ffiske. In every policy and definition the NHS has dropped biological sex in favour of subjective feelings.

Visual Performance Protest- September 29th
EYRE SQUARE @ 1pm
Gather at 12:30pm

What Is It?

Defending Ireland’s Communities is a partnership between community & voluntary sector & the trade unions to protest against the Government’s intention to cut a further €3billion in the forthcoming budget by targeting the community & voluntary sector. Events are being organised on Wednesday September 29th throughout the country and community organisations are also meeting with TDs to gain their support for the campaign.

What's Happening in Galway?

As part of a national coordinated day of visual protest, Galway will be holding a street theater performance in EYRE SQUARE @ 1pm. A pyramid structure representing the community & voluntary sector will be erected in Eyre Square and defended by a circle of people from the sector. This pyramid will then come under attack from street performers each representing a threat to the community and voluntary sector. The performance will be recorded and a number of short speeches made.

How Your Organisation Can Get Involved?

To aid the visual aspect of the performance we ask you to participate in the following ways.

1. A3 Poster
Please bring a visual representation/ poster or logo of your organisation in A3 size. This will be placed on the pyramid to represent the community and voluntary sector. We would like as many organisations represented as possible. If possible please send these items, in hard copy prior to the event to

Noreen Parker SIPTU, Foster Court, Galway.

2. Appoint a Defender.
Each organisation represented visually, should appoint a person to form the circle and defend the community and voluntary pyramid in the performance.

3. Wear White
In order to be visually effective we ask you to wear white as much as possible.

4. Bring Your Banner
Please feel free to bring banners or placards representing your organisations if you wish to do so.

5. Gather @ 12:30pm
Please gather half an hour prior to the event.
