Yesterday 23/11/10, Concerned Families Against Drugs was handed a substantial quantity of Cocaine and a dozen or so cultivated Cannabis plants (see photos) by a number of local people in the Ardoyne area. Also taken was other equipment used in the supply of illegal drugs.

CFAD Activist Paddy Larkin, welcomed the move and said the deadly drugs have since been destroyed. He also said the Dealer had been notified by CFAD to close his 'drug factory' immediately and end his immoral involvement in the drugs trade.

CFAD remind all those involved in pushing drugs that their anti-community activities are being closely monitored and we will continue to frustrate and expose these crimes.

'' Deadly Drugs '' Once again cannabis is being considered as dangerous as Cocaine or other Class A drugs , you make no differenciation between the two in your article. I think this is wrong as Cannabis has been proven time and again to have less harmful effects on the body than Alcohol , let alone Cocaine. And not providing more information and/or a differenciation helps to reinforce peoples views that anything that isnt alcohol and cigarettes is evil and '' deadly ''.

I can understand wanting to stamp out Cocaine dealing in your community but patting yourself on the back for destroying Cannabis plants is a bit much. I wonder how many of the members of this group readily take prescribed medication without even checking the possible negative side effects. How many guzzle Coffee and smoke cigarettes and down heroic amounts of alcohol at the ballad session?.

until we have a better way to look at drugs in this country i can understand communities takin action on nuicances in their communities who dont bring anythin positive to the table. i take your points about drink and medication on board but the local bar man doesnt intimidate local kids for not payin for beer or the doc doesnt leave pipe bombs in the chemist. its one of the eternal debates but i dont think anyone can get on their 'high' (ha) horse about communities that dont want to be intimadated. A whole community is not reactionary. In south the dealin problem is gone too far, fair play to these people who are from communities who suffered terribly from the troubles and have great spirit not wantin to be the next limerick or dublin.
