Shell survey work halted

Today Shell's survey work in Aughoose was halted as people walked on to the land and stood in front of equipment. Shell still do not have full planning permission; they still need Ministers to sign off the Section 40 application, a Foreshore licence and an EPA waste licence. This project is not safe for the community or the environment and we will continue to protect this area. It's not too late to renegotiate the unjust deal. Stop the 540 billion oil and gas giveaway! |

Jump To Comment: 1Did wonder when I first saw this as a single line story accompanied by a repeat of a previously circulated callout , if it was something upped from elsewhere by somebody trying to be helpful. I think one of my newslist stories had that happen here a couple of years back.
But no this does look like it is the first attempt by Shell to prepare for the start of work. Word went around at the end of January that fences were expected to go up imminently to rope off areas for heavier work.
So looks like things are about to start.
There is a preparatory weekend on camp detailed here

which needs places booked
