Pat Cox may run for President

category national | politics / elections | news report author Sunday April 03, 2011 17:57author by Pat Cox for the Aras Report this post to the editors

In these uncertain times, when people feel unclear about the future and what it might hold, here's a a piece of news that should unite everyone in Ireland.
Pat Cox is considering running for election to the post of President of Ireland.
 Pat Cox
Pat Cox

On RTE radio yesterday, Mr Cox, former member of the Progressive Democrats and famous as President of the European Parliament from 2002 to 2004, used to work for RTE as a TV presenter. He is now the President of European Movement International, a lobby group for further European integration.

His campaign will presumably be based on gratitude for all that that the EU has done for Ireland, and will be a chance to go over some of the ground covered in the Lisbon Treaty Referendums, in which he played an important part on the "YES" side.

It is widely believed that everyone in Ireland, on both left and right of the political spectrum, will be happy to see Pat Cox putting himself forward for the electorate to judge in September.

I don't like the sound of that but maybe there are enough people in the country who are grateful for the 'jobs and prosperity' he said would follow Lisbon 2. Wasn't he also a big driver behind Nice one and two; the referendum that allowed us to integrate and bring in hundreds of thousands of Eastern European workers to drive the Celtic Tiger boom? Without Nice one and two we would not have had the boom workers to be in a position to have drawn down the loans which are now bankrupting the country. Well done Pat.

Kerry South's Jackie Healy-Rae is also considering the Aras now that he has Mini-Me installed in the Dail. Oh lawdy it's a good day for a revolution!

How utterly depressing. A failed eurocrat and very much an architect of the disaster.

Never mind the gratitude for EU stealth subduction, we must show our appreciation of the PD 'free' marketeering deregulation regime he ushered in.
Them kiddies were the architects of the current 'destructive creative' neo-con economic debacle. And the share the economic model just as they 'share the pain'. We get the destructive weight of the debt, they reap the creative rewards of the sub-prime split derivative scam. Or as the natives say in the mining country, they get the gold, we get the shaft.

Will we ever free ourselves from this PD gang? Des O'Malley's childish reaction to not getting a cabinet post has cost us all very dearly. The collapse of our economy can be directly traced to PD neo-con fiscal policy-better known as "Greed is Good"
At least Harney has the good grace to hide away as she gorges on the huge handouts that she and Bertie helped organise for themselves.

Now now....Lets not all be so negative. Lets see this not as yet another piece of depressing news, but rather as an opportunity to erase the last vestiges of the PD's from our government altogether and make a clear statement to those currently in power that we haven't all gone back to sleep quite yet.

Lets all vote for senator David Norris instead. Now there's someone I could actually vote for and would be happy to have as our president.

Norris for president. No to Cox

With Pat Cox at least we all recognise what we are getting. What i find more insidious is the "Left presidential candidate" Michael Twee. How many times have we all stood in the rain listening to him ( just like we did with John Gormley) denounce the scandal at Shannon? And once Labour got into power it obediently supports the US military's use of airports and airspace. Higgins played a deeply reactionary role during the Lisbon referendums - totally ignoring the formal recognition of the European Defence Agency in the treaty and the huge loss of sovereignty. instead telling lies about jobs etc and so-called "EU Peace Corps". His support for Lisbon 2 exposed him as no democrat.
I think the Presidency is a waste of money, for that reason maybe we should all give our support to Jackie Healey - wouldnt it be wonderful to see him pictured with "the great and the good" of the world?

Pat Cox for President? We'd be rightly stuck if that waster made it into the Arus. I'm no fan of Norris' camping about, but he's a million times more appealing as president than that arrogant PD ornament.
Cox spent years in Brussels (admittedly at a time when nobody gave a s**t about the European parliament) and all he achieved was advancement for Pat cox. Not a single benefit for Ireland, a place he was almost ashamed to admit as his country of origin. He was made President of the Parliament, in which role he achieved nothing, apart from the decoration that the Romanian government gave him in 2002 to persuade him to support their entry to the EU and to turn a blind eye to their human rights abuses.
Cox is a clerk's clerk, a bureaucrat's bureaucrat. A pontificating former TV light news anchor who has reinvented himself as Ray McSharry the second, all smooth talk and f**k all action.
I've seen it all now!

Just when we thought that we could sleep at night it appears that we are again to be confronted with the prospect of a far right wing zealot re-entering the corridors of power. There is no douibt that the PDs are making a concerted effort to re-establish themselves and organisations like "We the Citizens" are convenient covers. They can hardly fool us again, can they?

While everyone is getting upset at Lizzy nobody is mentioning the emperor's visit. I still suspect she's half stalking-horse/decoy to draw the fire.

here's shot of a buncha lads waiting to have their confessions heard in the Oval Office; since Obama 'closed GUANTANAMO down and ended that war in Afghanistan'.Dont 4get Manning and Assange. The neuveau-disappeared

Note the Pilate stance as Cameron and Sarko drive the Libyan dodge, even as they block the refugees they create and dismantle the Schengen free-movement clauses. Real butchers are doin it with clones 'n' drones this season.

I did a wiki search on Pat Cox when I read he was thinking about running for President and found out he is a member of The Spinelli Group. He wants to see a Federal Europe, a Europe without nation states. He wants to see an end of the Republic of Ireland as a sovereign nation. Its preposterous that he wants to become President of Ireland while holding those beliefs.
