There is no such thing as 'positive' discrimination. And when it creeps into life-or-death professions like policing or flying a plane, it stops being merely unjust. It becomes dangerous, says Daniel Fessahaye.

One Gas Well to Secure Ireland's Energy Supply!!!

ESRI reducing Ireland's Energy Supply to ONE GAS WELL NON-PRODUCING

It was with great shock and puzzlement that the Irish public was informed yesterday that subsidies were to be removed from wind and wave in this serious era of climate concern, environmental pollution... as advised by the ESRI. Unbelievable to dare to suggest it in bald terms. And to further suggest that Ireland's energy supply be focussed on one Shell non-producing gas well as the answer to Ireland's energy needs. This well is said to last for 15 years. Is the State still in the blind in spite of all the criticisms about our building and our banking policies. Something really wrong with policy makers minds When will we ever learn?

So much for public stakeholder participation. Open the door to policy making in this country. This latter attempt to justify the Corrib project is blatant ingorance on the part of the ESRI. At worst it smacks of political influence and at the very worst of corruption. Policies are not about single projects. We alll know fruit has vitamins that are good for us but in saying that one does not in a policy about essential vitamins pick out one and promote it above the others unless one is in the advertising industry.

Inspite of promises from the new government their will be no real changes to the system.
It never ceases to amaze me how the Irish public can turn a blind eye to the obvious. We all know that for decades the corrupt Fianna Fail party have been appointing top gardai, judges, media stooges and cronies to state boards. THEY ARE STILL THERE.
Why would their friends not be just as corrupt as themselves?
While the Garda ombudsman may not be corrupt he is powerless as he is subject to censorship by the minister for justice and the DPP.
They have brought Ireland to it's knees by solid corruption and the new government is fully aware of what they did.
BUT THEY CHOOSE TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT THE CORRUPTION GOES ON.. They will just carry on as usual
Most have shares in the multinationals and related companies.The minister for justice has shares in Standard Life who is a major shareholder in SHell.

"My lengthy research into these matters very strongly suggests there is a huge -- but, as yet, not well know and consequently not well understood -- problem with impunity in the Republic of Ireland: which means that major criminals in all three of the main branches of our Government (Executive, Legislative, and Judicial) can commit major crimes, and KEEP ON committing them, without fear of penalties or punishment, of having to make reparations to the targets of their abuses, or anything whatsoever of that kind: as a result of exposure to our "justice system" (so called!!)."

'The author of the report, ESRI research professor John FitzGerald, claims any major interruption to the physical supply of gas for any significant period would have a catastrophic effect on the Irish economy.

'"It would be worse than a tsunami. It is vital we do something about this," said Prof FitzGerald.'

Which Tsunami John? The Japanese one or the big Pacific one from a few years back? Does the ESRI, that august and fully funded body, predict the deaths to be in the tens of thousands, or the hundreds of thousands?

What a muppet.

BTW: there are 2 interconnectors with Britain not one;
there is no security of supply with the Corrib gas or any other fields discovered further offshore under the current fiscal terms as the oil corporation is free to sell it to any customer they choose (they can ship it away on oil tankers or as Liquid Natural Gas);
most of our gas comes from the North Sea not Russia/China/Mongolia/Antarctica/The Moon and that supply is good for decades yet;
if they sell it to us, we will buy our own oil/gas back at full market price so it's hard to see much benefit to the economy there;
Bord Gais has already spent millions building a pipeline to Shell's refinery in Mayo not to mention the millions spent policing the forcing of the pipeline through the locals' properties.

Gaah! This stupid country makes me angry!

Miss Piggy (Not shown in the picture) is his State handler saying 'You'd better make some of the right noises on Corrib John or your fucking little organisation will go the same way as the Equality Authoirty. In fact, perhaps the fact that his statement was so obviously stupid was his only way of showing his resentment of being forced to produce politcially expedient reports...!
