Net migration?hit a record high of nearly one million in 2023, 170,000 more than previously thought, in an extraordinary indictment of the Tories' post-Brexit record on 'cutting immigration'. No wonder the NHS is overrun.

AFA remodel fascist posters using Bobby Sands imagery

category national | history and heritage | news report author Saturday May 07, 2011 11:58author by Bernardo - Anti - Fascist Action Report this post to the editors

Today, members and supporters of Anti - Fascist action remodeled posters that were put around Dublin city centre, by a tiny far-right Autonomous Nationalist group, to mark the 30th anniversary of Bobby Sands' death.

This has been the latest attempt by far right groups to use Irish Republican imagery, particularly Bobby Sands, to promote their own agenda.

Late last year, the Italian far right group 'C*** P****' were condemned by Sinn Fein and the Bobby Sands trust for misappropriating the name and image of Bobby Sands.

Irish Republican socialists have a long and distinguished history of being at the forefront of anti-fascist struggle in Ireland, the UK and the rest of the world. Long may it continue. No Pasaran!

Bobby was a committed socialist and internationalist:

‎"It burst forth through pitiful Paris streets, And stormed the old Bastille, And marched upon the serpent’s head, And crushed it ‘neath its heel.
_____
It died in blood on Buffalo Plains, And starved by moons of rain, Its heart was buried in Wounded Knee, But it will come to rise again.
_____
It screamed aloud by Kerry lakes, As it was knelt upon the ground, And it died in great defiance, As they coldly shot it down.
_____
It is found in every light of hope, It knows no bounds nor space, It has risen in red and black and white, It is there in every race."

Well done, this is most commendable. Bobby would be disgusted by the antics of these fascist groups, and their attempt to use republican imagery. This same 'two men and a dog' group have had James Connolly quotes on their site too. Confused kids. Now would be a good time for them to leave the stage.....

..saw them there today alright and the 'identity' thing stuck out to me alright, i thought it strange that any real progressives would focus on that alone. Have to laugh as well, any time real republicans or anti-facists put stuff up they never last. With the new rebranding they look lovely, thanks a lot to those concerned. It would be the ultimate dillema for me if i bumped into them ejits puttin pictures of heroes up but knowin what theyre up to, but after a nice little chat with them i think i would eventually make the right decision and.......

Well done comrades, fascism from it's inception has a long history of political parasitism and these attempts to peddle their filthy agenda by using Bobby Sands memory are a provocative desecration of his memory. The same type of scumbag attacked hunger strikers graves in Belfast a while back.
