Nazis block two tone ska gigs

category antrim | miscellaneous | opinion/analysis author Sunday October 17, 2004 00:38author by skafrican Report this post to the editors

Racists blocking internet information about veteran two tone ska gigs.

Both Neville Staples/The Beat were due to play Belfast recently, both are Touring Ireland but no information about their gigs was available on the internet or even at the venues they were supposed to be playing at.

Similaryly AFA skin band Runnin riot site was down for a while, and listings for the Menagerie pub which hosts multicultural reggae/ska nights was also down.

It appears cowardly nazi wimps wish to claim and enjoy veteran two tone ska bands for themselves, and freeze out veteran anti racists and anti fascists.

When i was a schoolgirl the first ever gig i went to was Bad manners who played in the Ulster hall in the 1980s. In those days skin heads were divided into 2 camps, the mainly catholic ANF/anti nazi league skinz and the nazi skinz. which included the likes of Johnny Adair.

The Nazi skinz including Johnny Adair were on the ground floor on the ulster hall seig heilling up at the catholic skinz, who in turn would spit down on them and throw bottles etc at them.

I eventually got into punk for a while where i encountered Johnny adair again, who was tolerated by the middle class/rich/upper working class punk scene, mainly because the punks were all middle class, most could afford to buy leather jackets and expensive punk gear and also wimps who were all afraid of Adair. Stalag 17, The outcasts, would all play alongside Johnny Adairs NF offensive weapon skin band, something they didn't mention in spit.

I drifted away from the punk scene after this preferring, the simple, friendly, accepting down to earth company of the ANF Newington skinz and rude girls and boys, who were my real friends and weren't racist.

What's this all about? How did they manage to shut down these sites and have The Beat already played, if so in what venue? Can someone explain this all a bit better?

Bad Manners? You're obviously the brains of the Norn Iron Rude Girl Brigade (and in your 40's). No improvement in the level of sophistication when it comes to political analysis I see, with old age,

And oh, yeah, Staples is hardly the person to be extolling harmony:

"The alleged occurrence began at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, when Graves, also a production-crew staffer for the Metro, told members of the Specials where to put their equipment for the evening's show, according to Chicago police spokesman Patrick Camden."

"Staples took exception to that, and an argument ensued," Camden said. Staples, 42, then allegedly raised a bar stool and swung it at Graves, 29, striking him and cutting his head. The Specials singer also grabbed Graves by the throat, according to the police report.
