Happy Christmas

category international | arts and media | opinion/analysis author Friday December 24, 2004 22:21author by ah go on! - (i'm technically on holliers but I needed to say this) Report this post to the editors

(we generally choose "happy" rather than "merry" in european english)

Happy Holidays, coz we know lots of you aren't Christmas believers. And we know you "solstice" types are still in party mode.

and then
Happy New Year.
we'll call it 2005.
coz it makes sense.

if you were born in 1984 you are now 21 years old.
you're getting the key to the door.

if you were born in the time of typewriters,
you must be getting used to it by now.

if you were born before,
are you happy?

Anyway.

Happy Christmas.
a fine European tradition, which we "imposed" / "gave" on pretty much most of the rest of the world, but we're sorry for any misunderstanding caused and hope you'll forgive us the worst things our grand-dads and their grand-dads and their grand-dads did. It's got nothing to do with class, it's got nothing to do with what books you read, it's about being happy it's about love. Coz we have a story about a kid who was born under a star and full moon in a dirty horrible shed in palestine and the rest is history.

Love will save us.

Find someone to love.
and what follows naturally... is nature.

Yes, it makes sense to call it 2005.
