A momentum to break open debtors' prisons that the Washington Consensus built in the global south has been building up, demonstrated by Argentina's ability to compel 75% of its creditors to accept 35 cents on the dollar. The nomination of Paul Wolfowitz for WB presidency can only invigorate the global justice movement, which will have an inviting target at the IMF and the WB's 2005 Spring Meetings on April 16-17 and their 2005 Annual Meetings on September 26-27 -- both in Washington D.C. German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said he would back Paul Wolfowitz, the US candidate for the post of World Bank President.
Schröder said the nominee’s critics would be “perhaps positively surprised” by Wolfowitz’s future performance.
Germany followed Britain in expressing high-level support for the US candidate.
January 28, 2009: In a surprise move, President cyber-Cheney nominates Paul Wolfowitz to head the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Even though the World Bank president has no background in either science or aviation, cyber-Cheney argues that Wolfowitz is the best candidate to spearhead NASA’s proposed multi-trillion dollar mission to Mars: “I’m sure Paul will bring the same competence and realism to this job that he has to every other task his country has given him,” cyber-Cheney’s vocal synthesizer tells reporters.
