Capitalism and other Kids' Stuff

Calling all anti-capitalists!! A new film entitled "Capitalism and Other Kids' Stuff", which argues the anti-capitalist case in simple language can be viewed free at www.socialist-tv.com

The film, made by 4 members of The Socialist Party, is 49 minutes in duration and, beginning with a look at how we treat our children, explains in non-jargonised terms, the insanity of a system that places profit before human need. Please note, this is not a Party political broadcast, just a sane look at an insane world that is very much crying out for real change.

Should be noted that its made by The Socialist Party of Great Britain (World Socialist Movement) [as opposed to The Socialist Party in England & Wales (Committee for a Workers' International)].

I have a suggestion, if you are the guy responsible for the site, you should make it downloadable - yes I know it streams, but on my (oldish) computer the sound is grand but the picture stalls a hella lot. I usually find when this happens that downloading and watching itdirectly off the hard drive stops the stalling.

Good stuff anyway, more groups should be doing this kind of thing. Hope theres some more in the future.

Sound good, peety I cant watch it here at work.

Anyway would it be something like the documentary film 'The corporation' with an easier to understand, dummed down version?

By the way for anyone who has'nt seen it 'The corporation' is an excellent show, it sets out to prove that if a corporation had a personality it would be a psychopath. Loads of good stuff from Noam Chomsky and even a bit from Michael Moore.

I think its just come out on video/dvd.

yeah the corporation is pretty good, there's an hour long audio excerpt on KPFA's Living Room archive page at http://tinyurl.com/5286a (its highlighted, even though it says something like Noam Chomsky The Modern Corporation, its the same thing). Also it was recently released as a two DVD set with loads of extras.

The SPGB thing isn't, so far as I've been able to see so far, anything like it - its just one guy in a room talking, with some stock images now and then. A bit like, um was the Socialist Appeal group's (WIL or whatever they aren't called) 'Real History' video, which was pretty good. I'll have a look for the link to that, I'll post it if I find it.

Yeah here its, its actually called 'World History' and features Alan Woods of the SA group, Chomsky and some guy from Pakistan(?) - its ages since I watched it. Anyway, it requires RealPlayer (or Real Alternative).

Actually, the speaker's corner site has a rake of interesting videos and audio on it.

Also, here's a video of Peter Taaffe of the SPE&W (unfortunate acronym there lads) talking about Iraq. I think this was pre-invasion.
