Castlederg Ógra press the Taoiseach over Orange parades!

category tyrone | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday July 11, 2006 15:21author by Ógra B - Ógra Shinn Féin Report this post to the editors

Castlederg Ógra Shinn Féin has written to An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern regarding “the unacceptably high number of Orange parades through the County Tyrone town.”
End Sectarian Marches - Ógra Shinn Féin!
End Sectarian Marches - Ógra Shinn Féin!

Ógra Shinn Féin Spokesperson Grace Lynch said “In our letter we asked the Taoiseach what his office is going to do to ensure that the rights of nationalists in Castlederg are upheld, given the conduct of Orange marches in the town in the past number of years. Determinations made by the parades commission are not worth the paper they are written on. Facilitated by the PSNI, Orange marchers insist in parading through nationalist areas of the town, such as Ferguson Cresent. Indeed the Good Friday Agreement guarantees the right of every Citizen to live ‘Free from sectarian harassment’”

I don't need a lecture on politics from you Harry, I'm more knowledgeable than you think. Those in power here are more than happy to facilitate marches in the 26 counties and wine and dine members of the Orange Order, while being fully well aware of the despicable actions of these members in the 6 counties. Countless people over the years have written letters to no avail, ye are hardly the first. I myself when I was younger and a lot more naive did likewise, but experience makes you wiser and extremely cynical.

I greatly respect republicans and nationalists and those belonging to neither group, who go out protesting at these Orange marches, I have done do so myself on countless occasions over the years and will continue to do so. I was just pointing out how useless the 26 county "government" here has been down through the years and how little they have helped the people in the six counties.

Nobody would be more delighted than myself if one letter now from Ógra Shinn Féin or any organisation for that matter (after countless letters), finally made an impact and forced Bertie and Co. (who are well informed on what is going on) to take action at last against these Orange marchers, but I know where these letters end up, unfortunately!

The purpose of a publicly released letter is to raise public awareness and to put public pressure on those who have power. It calls on them to exercise it or be exposed for not doing so - it exposes rhetoric for being just that. It gives rise to public awareness about the day-to-day reactionary nature of the Orange Order. It also has the possibility of putting enough pressure on the government here so it has to act. Far more needs to be done but this something is better than your nothing.

This ABC of politics would be clear to a child, but not to someone writing childish nonsense about the work of nationalist residents in the North who have consistently exposed the reactionary nature of orangeism and of the northern state itself.

Now go back to sleep.

"It is only since nationalist residents got active that the Orange Order has been forced backwards."

No, Harry, a chara, the nationalists did not force Orange Order backwards - the Orange Order was born backwards! 'Tis forwards you should be moving them, Harry, not backwards, they are backward enough, Dia ár sábháil!

At least the Orange Order did not get their way in Dublin. The Orange Order will never be allowed to march in Dublin, they will never be welcome. Where were ye on the day of the Dublin protest, I didn't see any of ye that day, where were ye at all?

Yes, keep on going sending the letters, maybe a miracle will happen yet and a Bertie official might just glance at the letter and some startling great announcement will follow from the usually spineless Bertie like, a condemnation of the Orange Order and a call for it to be banned throughout Ireland and all members to be returned to sender - to the British Imperialist Royal family, before the litir is fecked in the bin, le cúnamh Dé. But in reality, it seems pointless to me to be sending letters of protest to such a spineless establishment that meets and greets (although secretly despising) members of the Orange Order. I wish to fuck I was wrong, I really do!

Tuigim daoibh.

Sheep-stealing queens-shilling are 'ha-ha' merchants, armchair pontificators who wouldn't know how to fight for a right. How do they propose to defeat orangeism? It is only since nationalist residents got active that the Orange Order has been forced backwards. If this public initiative helps to put more of a spotlight on the sectarians, it should be supported. Well done Ogra, keep it going.

"Facilitated by the PSNI, Orange marchers insist in parading through nationalist areas of the town, such as Ferguson Cresent." --- Yes,and the PSNI/RUC are assisted by Provisional Sinn Féin and PIRA members in helping their new partners in the normalisation of British rule in the occupied six counties, anyone who tries to resist is treatened.

"Indeed the Good Friday Agreement guarantees the right of every Citizen to live ‘Free from sectarian harassment’”" ---- It guarantees the Unionist Veto, gave recognition to the illegal Northern statelet, removed the claim (articles 2&3) to the whole island of Ireland and sold out Political Status for which 10 men gave their lives 25 years ago.

Clockwork Orangemen at least they have not sold out their ideals for holiday homes in London and Donegal, and a nice fat salary = "the Queens Shilling".

Determinations made by Bertie Ahern & Minister for Injustice Michael McDowell (Orange Order facilitator) are not worth the paper they are written on. They facilitated an Orange March in Dublin which thankfully was brought to a halt.

What a waste of fine paper and ink that was for you, your time would have been better spent making paper planes for all the good that will come of it, but if you must play, now run along now!
