Zionist blood lust is anathema in Sin City, Galway.

"Sin City," ? only when Ahern and coven come to Galway for the races and a serious outbreak of brown envelopery consequently emanates from the Ballybrit "Hospitality Tent" which can only be controlled by CAB?.

"Sin City"," nah !, 'cos sometimes, in moments of weakness, Galway is referred to as the New Jerusalem,? true.

Besides the odd bi-pedal weasel, the overwhelming public response to our daily protest outside Lynch's castle in Shop street, engenders more and more of the same,so, tomorrow and Saturday, we'll be at it again.

A new, eye arresting, street artist on Shop Street.
A new, eye arresting, street artist on Shop Street.

There appears to be a fair sprinkling of Libyan people in Galway at the moment as three different groups of them engaged us in positive discussion concerning the Israeli blood letting in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, one, Araibi, volunteered to join us tomorrow.

Another dude who impressed us was an Irishman who worked for some years in an Israeli kibbutz before their virulent arrogance forced him to leave, more in anger and contempt than in sorrow.

From 1PM onwards, we'll be doing another five hour stint outside Lynch's castle, please join us there, if you can?.

Heres a few things the Arabs did. I've subedited a few topics below. You can get them in full plus infio on Architecture, Navigation and Geography, Horticulture etc at the link below.

pat c

Maths

The Arabs invented and developed Algebra and made revolutionary strides in trigonometry. Al-Khwarizmi, credited with the invention of Algebra, was inspired by the need to find a more accurate and comprehensive method to assure the precise divisions of land. The Astrolabe, combining the use of mathematics, geography and astronomy was used to chart exactly the time of sunrise and sunset. The writings of Leonardo da Vinci, Leonardo Fibonacci of Pisa and Master Jacob of Florence show the Arab influence on mathematical studies in European universities.

The reformation of the calendar, with a margin of error of only one day in five thousand years was also a contribution of the Arab intellect. Indeed, in our every day commerce, whether it is in yard goods, lumber, or ingots of gold and silver, we use the weights and measures by which the Arabs of the past conducted the business of their every day life.

Astronomy

Beside the improvement of the ancient Astrolabe, the Arab astronomers of the Middle Ages compiled astronomical charts and tables. Gradually, they were able to determine the length of a degree, to establish longitude and latitude, and to investigate the relative speeds of sound and light. Al-Biruni, considered one of the greatest scientists of all time discussed the possibility of the earth's rotation on its own axis, a theory proven by Galileo six hundred years later. Arab astronomers such as Al Fezari, Al-Farghani, and Al-Zarqali added to the works of Ptolemy and the classic pioneers, in the development of the magnetic compass.

Medicene

Al-Razi, in the ninth century, a medical encyclopedist, was an authority on contagion. Of his many volumes of medical surveys perhaps the most famous is the Kitab al-Mansuri, which was used in Europe until the sixteenth century. Al-Razi was the first to diagnose small pox and measles, the first to associate these diseases and others with human contamination and contagion, the first to introduce such remedies as mercurial ointment, and the first to use animal gut for sutures.

The great medical scholar known in the west as Avicenna was the Arab, Abu-Sina who was both a philospher and a scientist. He was the greatest writer of medicine in the Middle Ages and his Canon was required reading throughout Europe until the seventeenth century. Avicenna did pioneer work in mental health, and was a forerunner of modern western psychotherapists. It was his belief that some illnesses were psychosomatic and he would sometimes lead a patient back to a recollection of an incident buried in the subconscious which caused the present ailment.

In the fourteenth century, when the Great Plague ravaged the world from India and Russia across Europe, Ibn-Khatib and Ibn-Khatima of Granada recognized that it was spread by contagion. [The "Civilised" Westerners were blaming cats and dogs for it.]

Micheal Neumann argues that "leftists" (he's a Canadian talking about the US situation specifically) are wasting their time with their current appeals to morality. Provoked by petitions and expressions of concern he asserts that the only succesful changes that have happened in the past have occurred as a result of large numbers of people acting in their own self interest. The corrollary from this is taken to be that instead of haranguing people about boycotting Israeli produces or protesting against the massacres it would be better to leverage the self-interest of those with power.

(Personally I'm unconvinced by his argument. It seems overly pessimistic. But sometimes leftist protests and organising do seem extraordinarily ineffective)

its not too difficult to avoid caterpillar purchases, either the tractors whichnever sold well in europe anyway......or the sandals and outdoors wear.

but to be very honest, i dont think the value of named brands, logos and identifiable produce sold in Ireland with origin Israel or Palestian territories is large enough for any boycott to register.
this should bring us to the question.......what can or ought we do......
In ireland i think the best course of action is to continue public opinion exercises, in the long run these are much more damaging. id recommend finding conscientious objecters, inviting them to speak, to then exploring and explaining the apartheid state. If we boycott strawberries, we hurt poor irish families who send their kids to work the roads much the same way as urban kids sell fireworks.
if we continue to buy irish strawberries we may hurt palestinian producers as much as z.i.o.n.i.s.t. food packagers......
its all tiny. ive watched both the tel aviv and beirut stock exchanges go through their highs and lows as political opinion in the financier class wavers. the tel aviv peaked at the death of arafat and the most conciliatory statements of sharon. the beirut which closed during the first fortnight of conflict has reopened and seen interest.......... hariri the billionaire mr lebanon whose assassination started modern Lebanese history made around 5 billion from reconstruction.........it needs to be reconstructed again.
In short......... do exercise consumer boycotts........but choose the most effective way of making your voice heard........boycott US and UK products. Make a list of all the US products and UK products you can boycott. ¨But more effective in the short and long term are public opinion exercises which go beyond the cliches of zionists face off islamists. 40 percent of the apartheidstate of israel's population is arabic. this whole problem may be seen without reference to religion or a nineteenth century political movement zionism or without real need to use the tired language.

it is a question of US and UK foreign policy.
it is yet again a question of the anglosaxon mindset's attitude to ethnic conflict.
so....... boycott the US and UK and leave the arabic farmers of Israel's strawberries alone.

Unfortunately, when one clicks on "Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment" on the IPSC website and then on; "A list of goods to be boycotted" only "error 404" shows?.
Below is a limited trawl through some websites:

Caterpillar provides Israeli forces with armored bulldozers and others tools, paid for by American taxpayers, to destroy Palestinian homes and uproot trees

Carmel : produce of Israel (Agrexco Ltd) avocados, dates, salad vegetables, herbs, wine
"A company known for having one of the world's most up-to-date export logistic facilities, Agrexco ships all products via temperature controlled Jumbo Jets or Sea Containers to transport the goods all over the world, where they are sold under Israel's famous 'Carmel' label."

CRH : owns 25% of an Israeli cement company supplying materials for building the Apartheid Wall.

Danone : trades in Israel under name Strauss Dairy - bottled water biscuits and food.
Mr. Franck Riboud, on behalf of Danone received the Jubilee Award by the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. This is the highest tribute ever awarded by the "State of Israel" in recognition of those individuals and organizations, that through their investments and trade relationships, have done the most to strengthen the Israeli economy.

Estee Lauder : the Chairman of Estee Lauder International, Ronald Lauder, is a Zionist working with the land-grabbing Jewish National Fund, opposing the right of return for Palestinians. Lauder is also chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and president of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) - a quasi-governmental agency whose main function is to legitimise Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. Palestine's Arab League representative, said the Estee Lauder is "an important American company which finances Israel, settlement activities, Israeli extremists and the Israeli army."

Fyffes : distributes Israeli fruit in Ireland and Britain.

Goods and services which are manufactured or supplied by companies who invest heavily in Israel include America OnLine, Intel, Disney, Johnson and Johnson, Kimberley Clarke, the Kraft Group).

Marks and Spencer : Delta Galil is the Israeli clothing manufacturer whose biggest customer is M & S, whom they supply with underwear, socks, baby clothes and "leisure wear". "A unique ten-year association with Marks & Spencer means that Delta underwear covers Britain’s bottoms from Inverness to Falmouth." - Jewish Chronicle 26 June 2001
They also supply: The GAP and designer labels Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Playtex, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss.

Sara Lee : is the world's largest clothing manufacturer. It owns 30% of Israel's leading textile company Delta Galil., this opens the worlds markets to Israel, with cloths originating in Israel being sold around the world under one of the many famous Sara Lee brands (Hanes, Champion, Leggs, DIM, Bali, Lovable, Outer Banks, Wonderbra, Gossard, Playtex, Just My Size ...)
In 1998, Mr. Lucien Nessim of Sara Lee Personal Products received the Jubilee Award by the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. This is the highest tribute ever awarded by the "State of Israel" in recognition of those individuals and organizations, that through their investments and trade relationships, have done the most to strengthen the Israeli economy.

Dunnes stores regularly sell Israeli goods. Look in the vegetable section , Dunnes Stores vegetables arent fresh but as well as that they stock Israeli Potatoes, Kiwis, Avacados,...
Do not buy them. They are an Irish political digrace. Accept no food from Israel, they produce death. They should not have contacts with this country.

off the top of my head i cant remember the israeli identification code , but its out there in google, people have been identifying israeli goods in their supermarkets for years, oh look gluten, cant have that either. this loin chop is sugar free.....

However, there is one small problem.

Palestinian olives, oranges¨and more commonly found in EU supermarkets, strawberries do not carry their own state code of origin.
because they have a problem with statehood. Similar things happen with sardines from montenegro. there are more than a few tins of sardines in storage written down as serbian fish which are now independent fish. Thus the well intending home maker might include ethically good non zionist food produce in there no buy list. Its a headache. Best thing is to avoid strawberries alltogether. unless they are bought off the side of the road. But do remember to ask for a receipt, and if you see underage workers this summer on the sides of Irelands roads, remember the law is ready to act now. a quick phone call will ensure that exploited child will be made a ward of court and in care before you can say .....agricultural sector. Strawberries and zionism together we.ll stop them.

Rentless protest !
Activists, for the fifth day running, were outside Lynch's castle protesting against the ongoing wanton slaughter of Lebanese and Palestinian civilians by the Israeli's, this time in more professional mode, being kindly provided with a handsome metal table for petition purposes by Jameen of Amnesty International, with a steady stream of pedestrians signing and a constant torrent of outrage, when they stopped to chat after signing, was heaped on the heads of the Israeli's and Bush - the prevarication and fence sitting of the present crew in government didn't escape notice and withering contempt also.

I don't think all Jews are Zionist...

"a homeland for the chosen people is part of their religion"
The problem isn't a homeland for Jews, it's the nature of the homeland. This homeland, Israel, is occupying the Palestinian territories and perpetrating severe human rights abuses against Palestinians. Israel is also an exclusionary state whereby the Jewish population is privileged above the rest of the residents.

Is it just me or is it the case that a lot of critics of Isreal's barbaric actions in Lebanon cannot help but slide into caricature of Jews, blood lust (thats an old one), images of conspiracy, wealth etc? As for Galway, its a fairly boring hippy town.

author by Go to the racespublication date Thu Aug 03, 2006 21:12author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Not all jewish people are blood-lusty, though all are zionist ,as the nature of the Torah, the Temple and God are inextricably linked.

Therefore there would be many many jews, of diaspora and shoah survival
who believe that a homeland for the chosen people is part of their religion, which
has survived and evolved through written and oral history over many, many
generations. People of a deep and abiding faith , that are probably heart-broken over
the political twisting of their religion and the impoverished attempts of western democracies
to understand those links.

Whilst getting a point across about how zionism has become twisted by , amongst others
AIPAC and U.S foreign policy it is not the way of all jewish people, and maybere-thinking the
blood-lust would be helpful in that instance. 'Blood is life' in judaism. Many of our dogmatic
and politicised religions have perverted shadows.

Going to the races where the schmoozing and money-lust is an ongoing thing would be a
good idea?
