That would be great for the old minks but very bad for everyone else.
Mink, are a pest when they are in the iRISH wild, because they have no natural predator, they cause havoc among the other wild life, and can also be dangerous to humans.
I'm no supporter of the fur trade, but don't go thinking that ye are great people if ye release them from their cages.
Obviously no one wants any creature to be viciously exploited in this way. The problem is, since mink as an alien species can fuck up everything for miles in the wild in this country, there needs to be some way of getting them across the Atlantic if and when they're freed. Hmmmm...
Gardai in Vicarstown were very helpful and had a great chat with us on Saturday,In fact they knew about our day in advance and had no opposition to our legal information tables, leafletting and demonstration.
stop clutching at straws , and trying to stir excrement!

Nonsense. Fur farming is cruel and should be stopped. There is no need to have animals suffer just for some idiot to wear its fur.
However, if we manage to ban this activity, it would be necessary to HUMANELY euthanise the last animals left on the farms. I see no problems with that solution.
And it's not just fur farming. Much of the farming in this country - e.g. chicken rearing - is done on an industrial scale which means suffering for many thousands of animals. This should be stopped. Farms should be made ensure not just the quality of life of the farmed animals but in doing so ensure the quality of the product.
Good luck with the continuing action!
indeed go organic and push for higher quality food, the animals are treated humanely at least!!
the sight of a mistreated animal, any animal is very distressing
remember its the public that drives this farming practices (say in the case of chickens), farmers themselves are not breaking the law and they need to make a living like anyone else but if the public demand healthier better quality food then the public will get it.

Fur farming is a very legal farming activity and is no different than any other farming.
This type of farming is done in many parts of the world!
Mink have been farmed since the year 1860!
Fox since 1880's!
Irish fur farmers take great pride in their farms and the animals that they farm!
IFBA? As in Irish Fur Breeders Association?
Yes well you would try to justify fur farming, (having a vested interest in the industry). The fact that it has been happening in this country for as long as you say is hardly something to brag about. In fact it is something to be changed immediately. It is a practice from the dark ages and needs to be done away with, here, as it has in so many other countries.
Here is the truth for you, no sugar coating, just the facts!
