The Climate Change Committee has just released its 2024 report and its full of contradictions, reports David Turver. Reducing our reliance on oil and gas and making electricity cheaper are incompatible policy objectives.

When Ben Pile moved into a new house he got a nasty surprise. It had a prepayment meter that was about to run out of credit. Fixing this proved to be absurdly hard, which, presumably, is just what the green lobby wants.

Make Shannon an Election Issue

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Friday May 11, 2007 12:55author by MichaelY - iawm Report this post to the editors

Cindy Sheehan Press Conference and Public meeting

As part of our campaign to make Shannon an Election Issue the iawm is organising:

(1) A Press Conference with Cindy Sheehan from the US Anti-War Movement in Buswell's Hotel on Tuesday May 22nd at 10.30 - 13.00.
(2) A Public Meeting in DunLaoghaire's Kingston Hotel, on the same Tuesday evening (May 22nd)
Opposition to Bush grows
Opposition to Bush grows

Invitations to both have been sent to all political parties and independents who oppose the use of Shannon by US troops - that criminal 'Gas and Go' as it's being termed by some of its supporters.

We are particularly keen to have our sister anti-war organisations awi and Cosantoiri Siochana, PANA and the NGO Alliance, and the Belfast and Kildare Anti War groups join us to take questions from the members of the press two days before voting begins.

Speakers for the Kingston Hotel meeting will be Cindy Sheehan, George Galloway and Richard Boyd Barrett. The meeting will be chaired by Gearoid Kilgallen of the iawm Steering Committee.
