Hull resident Dr Roger Watson has written an account of the rioting that blighted his city yesterday afternoon. He too has reservations about the number of asylum seekers being housed in Hull, but thinks that's no excuse.

Riots could sweep the streets of Britain if immigration is not curbed, Rachel Reeves said in 2016. Yet the now-Chancellor's prescient warning was nowhere to be found in Labour's response to the current disorder.

The meeting was filmed. Footage of the 7th February launch meeting of the Campaign Against the EU Constitution is up on YouTube.

Last night's meeting was surprisingly good. C. 40 attended. Many interested locals. Nobody argued FOR. The idea is to broaden it all out into a constituency group of the CAEUC. I think. Maybe nearer the time of the referendum (late May is one estimated date I heard this morning).

Well done to those who organised it. Great to see groups getting organised on this.

The current issue of Le Monde, the posh intellectual French daily, has a headline saying the Undecided voters in Ireland (64 per cent of them according to the last 'sondage' - opinion poll) will decide the outcome of the Lisbon Treaty referendum.

Forza Irlanda. Votez Non.
