Keir Starmer?s Anti-Israel Policies Are Now No Different to Jeremy Corbyn?s Tue Jul 30, 2024 13:00 | Will Jones
Unlike Jeremy Corbyn, Keir Starmer has never described Hezbollah as his friends. But other than that, when it comes to Israel there is now little of consequence to differentiate them, says Stephen Pollard.

Is the Muslim Vote Abandoning Labour? Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:00 | Frank Haviland
Is the 'Muslim vote' set to abandon Labour? With three quarters of British Muslims refusing to believe Hamas committed atrocities on October 7th, it's hard to see how Labour can retain them, says Frank Haviland.

Shell To Hell.
In what an anarchist might describe as the biggest and most exciting monthly event on the left in Ireland, some people gathered at the petrol station in Glasnevin to raise awareness of the situation in Mayo.
Currently, Shell have still not named a route for the production pipeline to pump gas from the wellhead to the refinery at Bellanaboy, but it seems likely that they intend to install it at the bottom of Sruth Fada Conn, the estuary between Rossport and Pollatomais.
This week Shell received permission from the government to drill boreholes in the beach there, even though this is a protected habitat and a Special Area of Conservation. The Minister for the Environment has not commented on this.
Thanks to all the people who stopped and chatted today, and bought their petrol somewhere else.
whose cops?
How long will Bertie be attending protests? anyone got a Brian Cowan mask?
well done lads, a tough day for it given the weather early on. I would've loved to be out there meself but it just wasnt possible this time. Keep up the good work
The Irish government cannot provide a health service without insane levels of bureaucracy and waste.
What leads you to believe that the Irish government has any competancy whatsover in drilling, refining and distributing gas?
Aer Lingus was leaking money like a sieve for many years and had to bailed out by the government to keep operating.
If the Irish government were operating a gas field they would be running it at a loss.
Your faith in nationalisation is not supported by the example of state management worldwide which is a byword for inefficiency, financial waste and bureaucratic insanity.
the kinsale gas cept my parents home work for about 20 yrs now. Irish people all well able to take advantage of the gas of the west coast
Many people would agree that Kinsale is a model for the way to manage natural resources. The Corrib project is completely different from Kinsale however. Check out mayogasinfo.com for details on the Corrib scheme.
On nationalisation, even if Bord Gais, which seems like a fairly efficient company to me, took a fifty per cent stake in the profits from Corrib and lost 49 per cent at the races, WE'D STILL BE DOING BETTER.
The current deal provides no stake for the people of Ireland from their own resources. Not a cent of the gas will belong to us. Even the United States, home of capitalism, takes a royalty payment on oil and gas found in its waters. But not us.
So a deal which gave us even one per cent would be better than what we've got now.
