Four years ago on July 7th 2004 at 09:47 an explosion occurred on a No. 30 double-decker bus in Tavistock Square, London.
13 people died.
A shudder of terror went through all those who realised that a bus bomb could not be prevented, like perhaps a metro or subway bomb, with metal detectors or sniffer dogs that terror was compounded by the death and casualty figures in comparison to the total of 39 deaths for 3 rush hour underground trains. It was amazing anyone could survive. One did and has written a book which Amazon withdrew from distribution in March 2008.
The Statue of Ghandi on that square was sprinkled in glass & spatters of blood. 'The 4th Bomb' - is a book by Tavistock bus bomb survivor Daniel Obachike who insists he is a target of British Secret Service surveillance. He has since the July 7th London bombings joined a circuit of those who for want of better names are grouped together under the "conspiracy theory" umbrella which is mostly held by those who foment "inside job" explanations for the 911 attacks in New York but has also included in its shade at times those who rejected the authorship of the March 11th bombings in Madrid.
There are too many people under that umbrella and they shouldn't be rubbing shoulders with each other.
"His eye witness account asserts that a European male planted the bomb on the bus before exiting after the bus driver suddenly opened the doors with no bus stop in sight"
Despite Amazon.co.uk being forced to halt online sales in March 2008 the 227 page book is still available at www.the4thbomb.com, where exclusive footage and evidence backing the authors facts are available according to its author. - Homepage: http://www.the4thbomb.com http://www.amazon.ca/4th-Bomb-Daniel-Obachike/dp/0955536308
Without having read the book, nor having any great wish to, I'd just like users of this site to consider again that shudder of terror when for the second time in London's history a bomb had exploded "prematurely" on a double decker bus. & to consider that it is not enough to simply ignore the umbrella held over the "conspiracy theory" proponents. Their ideas and constantly self-referential links which so quickly spawn a canon of proofs and reports has the danger of becoming accepted popular belief given time.
As Martin Friedland wrote in his blog a short time afterwards on the nature of the "conspiracy theory" umbrella :-
The second, wearily familiar theme casts not the US but Israel as the culprit. This time, the hare was set running by an Associated Press story – retracted shortly afterwards - claiming that the Israeli Finance Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, mysteriously cancelled his appearance at a London conference that morning because he had had some kind of warning that attacks were coming. Later it emerged that Netanyahu had indeed chosen to stay in his London hotel room - but only because the explosions had already happened. His security advisers decided it was too risky for him to venture out while bombs were going off.
Once again, that has not stopped the wild-eyed conspiracy theorists. Iranian state radio’s first guess was that Mossad, the Israeli secret service, was behind it all. Perhaps such fantasies are oddly comforting – especially when the emerging truth of what happened on July 7 is so hard to bear.

& this is what happened :-
The UK was hosting the first full day of the 31st G8 summit, a day after London had been chosen to host the 2012 Summer Olympics, two days after the beginning of the trial of fundamentalist cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri, five days after the Live 8 concert, and shortly after the UK had assumed the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union and remembering the fourth anniversary of the racially-motivated Bradford Riot..
62 people died.
Victim density, blast area and co-ordination of attacks meant great credit for such a low loss of life had to be given to the emergency services in London whose meticulous preparation and training had been seen as so essential in the aftermath of the March 11th 2004 bombings of Madrid.
There have been no more bombs on buses.
