So what? Ireland is going to become a National Socialist state just because some idiot is selling Nazi kitsch?
If you are so concerned about Nazis glamourisation then why not ban the History Channel (the Hitler Channel) or clear out the groaning shelves of Easons which are full of Nazi nostalgic books and Osrepy Waffen SS Division uniform books.
This is harmless nonsense.

If those objecting to some Nazi clutter being sold would really be interested in preserving human rights and dignity, then they would also protest against the large amount of memorabilia from the Soviet era being on display in Irish stores. After all, the Soviets established a brutal dictatorship, killing and enslaving millions during their reign of power. But Ruari Quinn and co always prefered to turn a blind eye to Soviet crime.

What on earth is an anti-semitic ashtray? A couple of things spring to mind, but I really would liken to know.

As for the stall, if he is selling propaganda which is likely to generate hatred against Jewish people then he should be prosecuted. But I hardly believe that stuff from the 1940's is going to cause anyone to go out and attack a Jewish person.

what about the sale of Union jacks in Ireland. Do they not represent centuries of terrorism, or is it just the nazi flag that must be banned. What about the terrorism of France, Spain, Portugal, Israel, USA, Russia, China........

Hi. I’m the guy all this shit is about! First of all the comments written by that [individual - changed by editor] have been change to suit the paper. Yes i do sell third reich historical pieces I also sell Irish,British, American, Zulu, WW1, WW2 related items. Reference the ashtray it originates from the 1930s and is not a modern piece it will now be pulled from my stock now. Reference the picture with me, this was a set up by the reporter. He told me that his mate would like to buy a party flag and could I open it so that he could see it. I never seen the camera. This guy Ken never told me who he was until he rang me a few days later to ask me was I a nazi? He also forgot to mention the sign at the stall it reads "these items are sold historical interest only and are not to promote or condone any political or religious ideals.

Fine he took the picture secretly and got you to hold up the flag but did you say that the germans got worse than the jews after ww2 when the russians "raped all their women" or is that all lies as well, it very possibly could be.

The mass-rape of German women in the eastern provinces by invading Soviet troops is an undisputable fact. The Soviets are also responsible for many other crimes against civilian Poles, Czechs and even Jews who escaped the Nazi death camps. The Red Army were not the knights in shining armour and the liberators of Europe as people on the political left keep portraying them, but a brutal and tyrannical occupation force subjecting the civilian population of Germany and other eastern European nations to unspeakable terror. But unfortunately too many people seem to be blind in their left eyes and only want to see and condemn the atrocities carried out by the Nazis.

Selling memoribilia is not acrime. I know plenty of collectors of all things weird and wonderful and sometimes offensive.
If you are willing to condemn the seling of Nazi memoribilis you should take one step further and ask yourself if you condemn Nazism itself ant then go only one step more bear with me...and ask yourself where is the opposition to the new form of 'social consumer facism' that we all tolerate and turn a blind eye to as the new breed of facists are welcomed by our government and our people at large. Red carpets for the mass murderers and arrests for those who tried to prevent this genocide.

Passive resistance is as useful to Iraq / Afghanistan as meditating or praying.
We are supposed to be a catholic or at least a moral nation but we are no better now than the Brits we were once so appalled by, for their barbarity.

While selling memorabilia might not be a crime, you just have to wonder at who exactly buys Nazi "souvenirs." Invariably most such types turn out to harbour latent or not so latent fascist (in its original meaning) and anti-semitic beliefs. Try this little experiment the next time you hear someone expressing an interest in Nazi artefacts, or support for David Irvings "right to free speech" or watching excessive amounts of Nazi documentaries on the History Channel or whatever. Just probe them a little. Start off by saying something like: "you know, the Nazis weren't all bad - they had some good ideas." Your suspect will almost certainly respond enthusiastically though somewhat cautiously. Go on then to opine that really the Jews might have been partly responsible for their own fate. Your suspect will now be fully hooked and will be delighted to have found what looks like a fellow traveller. You can further encourage them by saying that its a pity such views are hard to air openly nowadays. You will then see raw prejuduce in its most virulent form. Beware that the extent of it is truly shocking. It gets depressing after a while but it's important to realise how close to the surface it still is.
