New Corrib Gas Documentary

category international | arts and media | feature author Wednesday October 01, 2008 09:19author by Revolt Video Collectiveauthor email revoltvideo at hushmail dot comauthor address Revolt Video, P.O. Box 10967, Rutland Place, Dublin 1, Ireland. Report this post to the editors

This video represents the many people not given a voice in the mainstream media. They have been denied a voice mainly because of their dissenting views about the Corrib gas project in its current form. There are interviews with many people who have suffered both personally and financially for daring to oppose the oil and gas industry. This industry has been supported by the various intimidatory and violent methods used by the Garda. The mainstream media has consistently misrepresented the facts, and has failed to report human rights abuses taking place in Mayo. It has instead tried to demonise anybody who goes against their neo-liberal view-point on how Ireland should be organized and structured.

Most of the interviews were filmed over the last month. Thanks to all of the people who generously gave up their time and energy to make this no budget documentary.

This is the first part of an ongoing documentary about the Corrib Gas Project.

Bravo Revolt!

Viewed this yesterday and will be circulating among my CW/Ploughshares newtwork (OZ/NZ/Eng/Scotland/ U.S.)...so thanx for the subtitles....hey we all gotta an accent!
The vid stands alone even for theuninitiated.
Revolt offers a valuable service to the movement uncovering the stories of resistance "covered (up and buried) by themainstream media.

I hope to make it up to Rossport with a CW crew for the Afri Hedge school Oct 24-26
(see indy events listing!)

Paul Laverty ("Wind that Shook the Barley) and Alister MacIntosh ("Soul and Soil" fresh from victory over the aristocratic man on a Gaelic speaking island -Egg? - in Scotland)

So don't be too cool for school,

" We're going to die for the cause - it's as simple as that" - WC

I hope somebody in our government can find the courage to act now, while there is still time. If not, this will haunt Ryan, Gormley and many others, politically and morally, to their graves and will sully their reputations forever.

"this will haunt Ryan, Gormley and many others, politically and morally"... Don`t count on it.
These same individuals sat in WC`s kitchen swearing that if they were to be elected they would halt the project. They are in the Dail now and intend to stay at any cost ,morality is left on the doorstep along with all their broken promisesAs a green party councilor said the day Solitaire arrived in Broadhaven and Maura commenced her hunger strike "this is registering zero on the rickterscale in leinster house" .
