The global warming craze is dying out, says Matt Ridley in the Spectator, as banks, billionaires and politicians bail out of the Net Zero agenda. Good. The climatastrophe narrative has been a terrible mistake.

RSF Local Election Candidate Statement on Property Tax

category meath | politics / elections | press release author Friday January 30, 2009 17:45author by Peter Fitzsimons - Republican Sinn Féin /Local election candidate Report this post to the editors

E1,000 tax to be introduced on all home owners

Today the "Government" announced that they are to introduce a tax of E1,000 for every homeowner.

On advice from Senior central bank officals it has been announced that this taxation on homeowners would turn the economy around and close the hole in public finances.

The present failing Government is again putting more pressure on hard pressed people to turn this country around.

If introduced, this tax will put the people of kells under severe pressure to survive. Kells as it stands has a rate of unemployment, with the dole queues lenghtening and jobs now more and more scarce it is time for the "government" to stop taking advice from the banks and to look at more sustainable options for this country and its local communities.

The people of kells are sick and tired of being left to carry the weight of the financial system on there shoulders as is every other rural town in Ireland.

I would like to invite the people of kells at this time to speak out against this proposed tax and to contact Republican Sinn Féin on any other issues they are facing at this time of economic gloom.

If the Government impose this tax we should take to the streets like the pensioners did with the Medical card only this time not stop protesting until the Government sink and we can have an election.

If you think we the private citizens and workers on low wages earning between 25k and 40k paying a mortgage, putting kids through school and college and not earning the fat cat salaries of the government from 100k to 200k plus with expenses and they ask us to take pay cuts and we are in debt already trying to feed and clothe our kids. Not alone that but other measures with the income levy which has kicked in and now tax increases and this house tax.

Even without the house tax I don't see why we should pay higher taxes, levies and pay cuts when we are struggling pay cheque to pay cheque to fund those who made the mistakes and they can take loans for themselves of endless millions the like of which money we can't even imagine with our meagre standard of living.

If you owe a few hundred or a few thousand in Ireland you get a few weeks or months jail but if you owe hundreds of thousands like bankers or developers you can still go on your foreign holidays, drive fleet of big cars, send your kids to private schools and lots of cash left to eat out few times a week where we can't even take the kids to mc donalds now.

We are expected to pay for all of the above for those greedy people.

We don't see any sign of Brian Cowan tightening his belt, it looks like he is one of the fat cats who eat from the fat of the land while I am in danger of becoming anorexic deciding if I feed myself or my family.

One daily newspaper report I've glanced at today suggests it's the "Central Bank" that's suggested this idea to the Government.
