Report on Easter Celebrations 2009 County Meath

On Easter Sunday Members of the Niall Fagan/Thomas Allen Cumann Contae na Mí
assembeled at the gates of Drumree Cemetary were they proceeded to the graveside of Fian Séamus Fox.

Liam Quail laid a wreath on behalf of the Meath Cumann,and the 1916 Proclamation was read out by Luke Kearney.

In addressing the crowd Liam Quail said"Although we are small in number here today we can hold our heads up high in knowing that we are the true inheritors to the 1916 Proclamation and we are proud to attened this graveside in rememberance of Séamus Fox who lost his life at such a young age.

A minutes silence as a mark of respect was then called.



On Easter Monday members of the Niall Fagan/Thomas Allen Cumann Co.Meath and the Larry Grogan/Francis Hughes Cumann Drogheda gathered at the gates of Ardbraccan Cemetary,Navan were they formed up and marched to the graveside of Vol.George McDermott.

A wreath was laid by John Coogan Drogheda on behalf of the Niall Fagan/Thomas Allen Cumann County Meath and on behalf of the Larry Grogan/Francis Hughes Cumann Drogheda.

Michael Rochford member of the Niall Fagan/Thomas Allen Cumann read out the 1916 Proclamation,and Local Election Candidate for Kells town Council,Peter Fitzsimons read out the Easter Statement from the Leadership of the Republican Movement.

A minutes silence was then called.

Jerome Fagan,brother of the late Niall Fagan and veteren of the Border Campaign addressed the crowd. Jerome said" I am proud to be at the graveside of Vol.George McDermott today,George McDermott was shot outside of Dunderry by the Free State Forces on the 5th of July 1922,even when he was shot and wounded Vol.McDermott tried his best to get up and make his escape but the Free State Forces riddled him with bullets untill there was no more movement"

Concluding proceedings Peter Fitzsimons sent Easter Greetings to all the Political Prisoners in Portlaoise and Maghaberry Prisons.
