Green Party Posturing - But not turning a New Leaf

Sunday May 24, 2009 12:39 by Joe Higgins - Socialist Party info at joehiggins dot eu
Joe Higgins is standing for the Dublin Constituency in the Euro Elections to be held on Friday, June 5th There is fear and loathing in the vegetable patch. The greens are nervous and restive. Inclement environmental conditions have sapped their once bright emerald hue leaving them looking pale and sickly. But worse is to come. Pathetic really. The Greens have lost any sense of shame after two years of abandoning just about everything they said they stood for. That can be the only explanation for them failing to appreciate just how crass this opportunist posturing is and for failing to see that just about everybody sees through it. |

When we consider the gobshites that are running this country, it must be to our everlasting shame that an honest man like Joe Higgins is not even sitting in the dail.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE?
They are all moaning about the state of the country but it is their own fault for ignoring Joes honesty and many years of exposing Fianna Fail crimes.
In Tralee, Green candidate David Grey has new posters up with the tagline "Vote for Change"
You couldnt make it up :(

" The election this morning has taken place of current Green Party Councillor Niall Ó Brolcháin. "
P.ie has just announced the appointment of another Green Party member to the Senate so collaborating with FF is still paying dividends even though the electorate made their views of the Greens very plain at the recent Euro and Council elections.
Was this the pay off for co-operating with the € 1,500 subsidy for cars ?
.
Niall is a good guy. I know for a fact he is no fan of FF shenanigans
There are far worse people elected to the senate.
I wish him luck. He'll need it to try to change anything in this rotten system.
The Real Problem is that Niall is now supporting cutbacks. Forget about public sector pay. He is supporting cutbacks in the Blind Pension, Disability benefit, hurting the most vulnerable people. The cuts in welfare payments could have been avoided through a very small increase in tax for the wealthist people in Ireland. The Greens could have acheived this, but they chose not to. Cowen would not have gone to the country on the basis of protecting the super rich.
The Greens chose to impose this hardship on the poor.
Bad and all as taking a senate seat is - the GP are up to far worse.
The new GP policy on maintaining Shannon Airport is to promote the increased use of Shannon by military aircraft.
Heres a good story by Fred Johnston on Green Party support for US military using Shannon Warport: https://www.indymedia.ie/article/95150
