Lenihan up-beat, ebullient at the Helm; Cowen broken and defeated; Gormley... God Help us

category national | miscellaneous | opinion/analysis author Sunday January 10, 2010 06:13author by Donkylemore Report this post to the editors

Cowen seems more beaten by the day. The easy clichéd sound bites gone. He appears hunched, shuffling; or frozen in fright like the deer in the head lamp, He has inherited a terrible legacy , but one which he contributed to its making in very substantial manner. The game is up Like Brown in the UK - he too is unlucky, unpopular, lingering in from day to day, never knowing the moment to go to the country.

Cowen seems more beaten by the day. The easy clichéd sound bites gone. He appears hunched , shuffling ; or frozen in fright like the deer in the head lamp, He has inherited a terrible legacy , but one which he contributed to its making in very substantial manner. The game is up Like Brown in the UK - he too is unlucky, unpopular , lingering in from day to day, never knowing the moment to go to the country.
Worse for Cowen is his ''ailing'' finance minister.
Mr Lenihan's formidable performance on rte regarding the distasteful breaking of the news of his illness has bestowed upon him an Obama-halo
Is he the chosen one who will steady the ship- that ship of fools,- maybe but we are all in it together .
Lenihans upbeat almost euphoric determination to deal with his illness convincest that he economy should present no problem for him.
But that's the good news
Mt Gormley is probably the least capable minister in office. He has no experience in his portfolio. He is an innocent abroad in this environmental crises. He comes across as a Bertie Wooster type character constantly in fear of his aunt Agatha - his Nemesis .
Gormley doesn't do door--stepping well.He is on edge. He has no ' bright ideas' He runs for cover as Ms Harney did every time she was door stepped ; when things went wrong she blamed Drumm or the HSE , when things went right she ravished the praise,
Gormley is grasping at straws trying to blame the local authorities. Where will the salt come from. Well he has delegated local authorities to get it. From where ? - Well he has instructed the ;local authorities and on and on it goes..

But the big problem is that with this gritting without salt is that when the thaw comes the sand will fill and clog the gutters, and then we have a big problem.. sewers will back up.. drinking water will be contaminated .Gastrointestinal illness will be high risk
And where is the plan for that. Then he'll hand it over to Harney ...
No one is in charge .. No joined up thinking . They have an aversion to it.
The Greens know this is their moment; they will never have another.
Just stick in there long enough to get a ministers/ senators pension. Then its curtains for them. None of them has the remotest Idea about green issues,
Gormley is trying to stop the incinerator in Poolbeg - his own constituency , but the reality is that the company who have set up the incinerator will fine Gormley by the day if insufficient fuel is provided ,
And they rolled over on the Tara site - knowing before they went into government that they would roll ob=ver.

The Greens are there to perform political fellatio for FF
and that's about it .
