Joe Condemns Ongoing Criminalisation Of Decent People To Complete State Sell Out Of Natural Resources To Shell "Having traveled from Dublin on Friday to visit Pat O'Donnell in Castlerea Prison, I was encouraged by Pat stating that he was well treated and well respected by prison staff. However it is an outrage that Pat O'Donnell finds himself in prison at all. He is a victim of the criminalisation of decent people involved in peaceful protest in Erris which highlights the handover of an entire natural resource to a multinational corporation with not a cent in royalties for the Irish people. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3Well done to Joe Higgins for this visit, he shows himself to be the most hard working, honest, and caring high profile politician.
I imagine it will be a while before Pat O'Donnell receives a visit from (even the local) Fine Gael and/or Labour TDs from around Mayo and Roscommon. I'd love for them to prove me wrong. Opposition parties? Not really.
While it is really great (I think) that Joe Higgins MEP has just said and done what he has, to challenge the growing litany of wrongdoing involved in connection the giveaway of what must now be our most precious asset by far (as a Nation), in a time of great need for our Nation and for all of our people, how sad and frightening that he is a "voice in the wilderness" as far as the rest of our "public servants" (so called) are concerned?
There has to be something VERY wrong somewhere?
Joe is not only person that is active against the system. Yes, he's the only MEP from Ireland, and there are no decent TDs or Senators.
But remember it's people power that matters. Get active and get involved. The vast majority of people are totally opposed to the government and are increasingly questioning capitalism. Now is the time to get active and not just sit back and admire activists like Joe from afar ('admirer' I'm now saying you are not an activist, just making a general point about now is time not to dispair but to get stuck in!)
