Occupation of Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources underway

category dublin | environment | news report author Friday May 21, 2010 16:12author by JB - Dublin Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

Within the last few minutes campaigners with Shell to Sea entered the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources drapped in chains and locked together to mark the 100th day of the imprisonment of Erris fisherman Pat O'Donnell. This action is part of a national day of protest which includes a protest outside the HQ of Shell on Leeson street, only 50m from the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. A public protest starts at 5pm tonight at Shell HQ just across the road from the department.

I have just received a phone call from a Dublin Shell to Sea activists saying that four members of DS2S have occupied the Dept. of Communications, Energy and Natural on Adelaide Road. They have chained themselves to a stairwell inside.
They are now calling for people to go down and support them. Also, the location of the planned demo to mark Pat O'Donnell's 100th day in prison at 5pm today has now changed from outside Shell HQ on Leeson St to outside the Dept of C,E & NR on 29 – 31 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2 (its very near the original location anyway).

See you all there.

It was great to sea the 4 people stand up for The country and the people of Erris who were left out of the deal shell made with the FF , Its also very dishearten to see more people being troubled in the name of $hell, Great move to get the protest back on track, to show that people will not stand by while our Natural Rights are being taking away. Good luck with todays protest, Thank you.

All of us in Cork Shell to Sea would like to thank our Dublin colleagues and friends for once again taking a bold action at the HQ of the govt. department that is sanctioning the thieving mess in Erris. We too remembered Pat's 100th day in jail, maybe not in so high-impact a way - see the link below. Once again, our congratulations and thanks for a splendid and daring direct action.
