Is it possible that the Herald nicked the image of dead Bin Laden from the India Times? The website Dangerous Minds covered this soon after, reporting that the image was a fake and providing the original image that had been photo-shopped, which you can see for yourself at the link below. The original image is several years old, yet Bin Laden's beard, teeth, and even ears remain exactly the same in both images. Readers can make up their own minds.
we might as well just watch the taiwanese news

Yeah the photo was run by some small asian news website, which said in the text that it doubted the pictures authenticity, then the news papers of the world just nabbed that photo without checking it. Turns out its a well known bad photoshop from two years ago... US never released any photos. Another prime example of news desks not checking facts before publishing and the system of copying everyone elses work....

Jean Baudrillard wrote a book called The Murder of the Real, in which he described how reality, in the Western world has been all but exterminated, to be replaced by virtual images. He even described how the material world now completely masked in a virtual map, which block out reality completely from view. Baudrillard sprang to mind as soon as I saw the above image. The US President, and his sidekicks, watch the assassination of a man, who, for the Western Populations had already been replaced by the image. We are not allowed to see the film of the killing, but we are allowed to watch someone else watching the film. That is virtual sex at its best. As it turns out, it seems Obama & Co. weren't even able to see what we are told they are seeing. Turns out their gross reports of Bin Laden trying to shoot his way out and using his wife as a human shield were all fantasy - probably concocted weeks before the event. Turns out he was captured unarmed, and executed afterwards in front of his twelve year old daughter. The fantasy tales were more about killing an image than killing a man. But, then, by "disappearing" the body, they make sure that Bin Laden remains, primarily an image.
So what was Obama and Hilary and the gang actually watching in the above pic? Who knows. One thing for sure, those who elected them will never know.
heh..nice catch Declan.
Just like BBC premature announcement of building collapse 9/11
It's almost as if some things are just staged and choreographed and occasionally the bits get out of sync
Trust RTE not to mention the boo boo while crowing from high heaven about the US decision not to release pictures after all.
