Mayo - Event Notice Thursday January 01 1970 Annual Afri Famine Walk![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On Saturday May 21st people from throughout Ireland will gather for the 24th annual Afri Famine Walk, honouring Irish history and standing in solidarity with those suffering today. This 10 mile road walk through spectacular scenery goes from Doolough to Louisbourgh and this year’s theme is food sovereignty, reflecting on the control of seeds and food supplies. It begins at 2pm (mini bus from Louisbourgh to the start point) and walk leaders include Choctaw artist Gary Whitedeer, Guatemalan Community leader Juan Carlos Contreras, and Gemma Hensey from Grow it Yourself. There will be music from the amazing Ugandan singer Justine Nantale. If you could raise €20 sponsorship to support Afri’s walk that is appreciated but not a requirement. |
