Australia's attempt to share credit for bringing peace to Gaza after recognising a 'State of Palestine' and making repeated calls for an under-siege Israel to restrain itself is beyond risible, says Prof James Allan.

New Website and Bright Future for Irish Wise Woman Weekend

The 8th Wise Woman Weekend will take place in Leitrim on 25th - 27th May 2012. It has a new website, web address and email contact, reflecting the decision of the organisers to register as a charity. This move will ensure the survival of the annual gathering, which is a friendly festival that offers a profound experience for women of all ages. The event is run purely on volunteer energy and offers twelve diverse workshops from poetry to Energy Healing. Included in the programme is the Friday night opening ceremony and bring-and-share meal, the Saturday night Vegetarian Dinner and Social and the Sunday afternoon Elder Talk and Closing Bealtaine Ritual. The cost of the weekend pass has been reduced to €125.

Wise Woman Weekend 2012, New Website and Bright Future

The Wise Woman Weekend is an annual event where women of all ages can come together to learn, celebrate, share and explore feminine wisdom, both ancient and new. It is a friendly festival which offers a profound experience. We are overjoyed that it is continuing into its 8th year and we are working to ensure its viability for the future.

As part of this process, we have unveiled a brand new and beautiful website www.wisewomanireland.org and have a new contact address: info@wisewomanireland.org. These changes are to reflect our decision to register as a charity. When the future of the Wise Woman Weekend was at risk in 2010, a group of women came together to ensure that this event, beloved of all of us, would continue. Becoming a charity will mean that the weekend will be viable even when none of the original organisers is still involved. The weekend is run completely on volunteer energy. This includes the workshops, for which the facilitators give their time and expertise for free.

The theme of the 2012 Weekend is “Growing Deeper” and is reflected in the workshops on offer. We have a variety of twelve to choose from: Unearthing the Poetry Muse with Lisa Allen; Reclaiming the Chalice of Grace, Passion and Power with Amantha Murphy; Dream Interpretation with Suzanne O’Shea; Shamanic Rattle Making with Niamh Dempsey; Ancestral Roots in Rhythm and Song with Debbie Beirne; The Root Chakra with Marleen Duffy; Using Craft to Root Your Intentions with Merovee Guerin; Coming Down to Earth with Ruth Marshall; Biodanza with Claire Knifton; Introduction to Energy Healing with Amber Elderfield and Róisín Ní Chéileachair; Writing the Book of the Ancestors with Monica Corish; Self Exploration and Self Expression Through Art with Tracey Jean Yappa.

There will be an opening ceremony (indoor) and a bring-and-share meal on Friday in the Blue Devon in Dromahair. On Saturday night we will have a vegetarian meal in the Riverbank Restaurant and a social evening where we will put on the glamour and share our party pieces. We will finish on Sunday afternoon with an Elder Talk, a Silent Grandmother gathering and a Bealtaine Ritual.

Oh and there’s another piece of good news! The cost of a weekend pass in 2012 has reduced to €125.
