Thursday October 19, 2023 23:54 by International Middle East Media Center

On Wednesday evening, the Israeli army bombed many homes, buildings, public facilities, and a UNRWA-run school, killing dozens of Palestinians and wounding hundreds in the Gaza Strip.
Medical sources said dozens of Palestinians were killed and injured after the army fired missiles at a school run by the UNRWA near Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, where families have been staying after the army bombarded their homes in northern and central Gaza Strip.
Also, the army fired a missile at a home near Ahmad Abdul-Aziz School in Khan Younis, where many Palestinian families have been seeking shelter, leading to many deaths and dozens of injuries.
Furthermore, at least nine Palestinians, including seven children, were killed, and dozens were injured after the army fired missiles at a home for the Al-Bakri family in Khan Younis.
In the Nusseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, the army fired a missile at a home for the Da’alis, killing an infant, only five months of age, along with his mother and wounding many Palestinians.
Twelve Palestinians were killed and many injured when the army fired a missile at a home for the Breika family, west of Rafah, in southern Gaza. Many surrounding homes sustained damage.
At least one child, 14, was killed and many injured after the army fired a missile at a building in the Nusseirat Junction area in central Gaza.
On Wednesday night, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the ongoing onslaught on Gaza has killed at least 3,500 Palestinians, in addition to more than 12,000 injuries, in the first twelve days.
It added that 1300 Palestinians, including 600 children, remain buried under the rubble of bombarded homes and are presumed dead, especially since the ongoing Israeli bombing is obstructing rescue efforts in addition to the large number of casualties.
The largest number of casualties in one bombing was in the Al-Ahli Anglican Hospital (Ref 1), killing 500 civilians, including patients, staff, family members, and other civilians, and wounding 314 civilians, including 28 who suffered serious wounds, after the families took shelter at the hospital. A United Nations School that had become a makeshift shelter this past week was also hit.
It is worth mentioning that the World Health Organization (WHO) documented 57 attacks on health care (Ref 2), resulting in 16 fatalities of health care workers and 28 injuries, damage to 26 hospitals and other healthcare facilities, including 17 hospitals and 23 ambulances.
As of 16 October, 167 educational facilities have been hit by airstrikes (Ref 3), including at least 20 UNRWA schools, two of which were used as emergency shelters for IDPs, and 140 Palestinian Authority (PA) schools, one of which was destroyed. One university building and seven churches were damaged, and at least eleven mosques were destroyed.
