Where is the real third world ?

category international | miscellaneous | opinion/analysis author Sunday July 06, 2003 14:56author by World Wide Views Report this post to the editors

Who says the east is the third world ?

I hate how the Western world refers to Eastern world, as the ‘third world’. This is to suggest that countries in the middle, south and far east are somewhat ‘third-rate’ in comparison to them.

Countries that the west have looted, exploited and now left with internal fighting, are being categorised in the most derogatory of ways. So I thought we should see what makes the west so superior.

What has the west actually given us, since it left the dark ages that the third world currently finds itself in ?

Lets start with sport. Most sports are universal. But some sports are
quite unique to the two parts of the world. These are usually combat
sports. The East gave us martial arts ( far east ) and wrestling ( south
east asia ), not steroid filled WWF style, but the true olympic sport
style of wrestling. These combat sports are elegant, and full of
style and techniques. They have now spread globally due to their beauty
and skill.

The West, well they introduced boxing and the Ultimate Fighting
Championships. these are sports where two men who have not achieved
anything in life enter a ring or an octagon and beat each other senseless
for a baying crowd. There is little skill involved and even less intelligence.
Many have compared the UFC to gladiators from Roman times, due to
the barbaric nature of the sport, where there are no rules and you beat
your opponent till he is unconscious or dead. It is a joy to behold the
Americans flood the arenas to watch this spectacle.

How about education ? Well it is common knowledge that the east gave us Maths,
Physics, Geography, Science, Medicine, Literature and basically every academic
subject of any note. The west has given us sexual education, psychology, DNA
manipulation, embryology. In the east children are taught the virtues of hygeine and
manners. In the west they are taught that there is nothing wrong in inserting a penis
into a mans bottom, or to watch two women salivate over each others bodily
orrifices. In the east, women are castigated for 'sleeping around' and potentially
spreading disease like AIDS. In the west they have introduced spring break and
mardi gras, where women are honoured for having slept with the most
men, or provided the most acts of toplessness or oral sex to
groups of men they do not know.

Let us look at family values. In the east, the extended family is still the main stay of any society. In the west it is about single mothers and broken homes. The largest growth industry is that of trailers, for trailer parks. It is suggested that by the year 2010, over 30% of American children will not know who their father is.

What do we read ? In the east the most popular books are poetry
and romance novels, the Mills and Boon types. Also local
magazines that sell most tend to be about fashion and music.
Western sports is also a big seller. In the west nothing can touch
playboy or hustler, although recently trends suggest that Gay and
lesbian magazines are also rocketing through the roof, as they
can now show far more explicit images.

How about crime ? Well the US has more prisoners than ANY OTHER country in the world. But this may have something to do with the fact that they also have the leading police forces. But the criminal activities are interesting. The east is mainly made up of conmen, counterfeitters, drug traffickers, money launderers. The west is about killers, serial killers, rapists, drug dealers, gangs.

I have simply touched the surface. But it is clear where the real third world is !

as such you could be a very typically westerner.
You will find the 3rd world very close to the 4th world. - ¿Have you heard about the 4th world? or has your "touching the surface" not got there yet?

Iosaf I assume thats you above. The Fourth World? I think that generally refers to poverty at home (the west)? I have friends who used to work for "Action Forth World" or something it was called, an international charity that does work in city centres and stuff.
