The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

Palestinian journalist and peace activist in Dublin

Palestinian journalist and grassroots activist, Osama Qashoo will be in Dublin on Monday 11th August as part of his speaking tour of Europe on behalf of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and the Palestinian non-violent resistance movement.

A spokesperson for the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) said, "As a 22 year old front-line activist, Qashoo offers a firsthand account of the growing non–violent resistance movement against the Israeli military occupation. And as a leader of the non-violent resistance movement in the West Bank, his voice is of a kind rarely heard in Europe."

Qashoo is one of numerous young Palestinians whose life has been dramatically transformed by the occupation and Israeli military incursions of the last three years. Unable to finish his university education in Palestine, he became a journalist in order to tell the story of his people.

Qashoo’s footage and interviews have been used in many documentaries. Specifically, his work has featured on BBC, Reuters, Wartime Magazine, Nagam Magazine, Qalqilya TV, Radio Nagam, Nablus TV and Nablus Radio.

Through his work as journalist and co-ordinator of the ISM, Qashoo has worked to protest and expose the daily realities and hardships of the Palestinian people living along the newly built separation wall.

In April 2002 the Israeli government began building a wall separating the western side of the West Bank from the State of Israel . This wall is commonly referred to in Israeli communities as the security wall and Palestinians commonly refer to it as the Apartheid wall, in reference to the Afrikaans word for separation.

In Israel and much of the western world this wall has been reported as being built on the 1967 armistice or “green line” when in fact it is actually being built inside the West Bank.

Since last Spring Qashoo has documented how the construction of this wall has destroyed thousands of acres of Palestinian agricultural lands and annexed more land to the Israeli side of the wall. Qashoo’s reporting has also focused on how this wall has devastated many Palestinian communities.

Qashoo’s multimedia presentation reveals the growth of the wall, its effects on Palestinian communities, land confiscation and the prospects of peace negotiations.

Walls have played a makor part in political history, usually erected by over extended super state's or insular city states to save themselves from the 'barbarians', The Chiness wall, Athens, Troy, Haddrians Wall, the Berlin Wall, and now the Isreali wall (or whatever name history gives it)
The probl;em is, as always, the goverment the people take, both sides of the wall.

Israel has Invaded and held in enslaving Occupation, Palestine and the Palestinians for over 36 years. All that is necessary to get the heroic Palestinian Freedom fighter suicide-bombers to stop there struggle for Freedom is - for Israel to Get Out of Palestine. If the Israelis were in my country - I only hope that I would have the courage to be one of the freedom fighter suicide bombers in the struggle to Free my country from the Israeli land theives.

The Israelis are saying "Stop trying to bomb and force us out of your country (Palestine) and then we will 'talk about ' how much of your land we will give you back." We all know that Israelis and Jews who support the Israeli government in it's theiving Occupation of Palestine are lying hypocrites - Hypocrites who wish to steal All of Palestine on the pretext of fighting the Palestinian Freedom fighters. Just get OUT of their country Israel and stop the Occupation bullshit. - Then no one will want to kill you Israelis for stealing their land.

As for your assertion in Fact2 that the Left and the right are at one over Israel you are wrong. The left wish to see Israel return to its pre-1967 borders in compliance with UN resolutions, and the establishment of a fully independent Palestinian state, next door to an Israeli state.

The neo-/Nazis wish to see the extermination of all Jews worldwide.

The 2 positions could not be further apart.

BTW for a country which has made a vocation of non-compliance and obstructionism when it comes to UN resolutions, Ranan Gishin (Sharons spokesman) mentioned Lebanese/Syrian non-compliance with a UN resolution several timesfollowing yesterdays attack on northern Israel. Another case of one law for the rich (Israel).

What book do you sugest him to read ? Maybe "The Protocols of Zion Elderd" (a very popular book in the arab world) ? or maybe it should be the best-seller of the arab world in the recent years (especially in palestinian-authority ) Mein-Kampf ?
Fact 1 : The PLO had been founded in 1963 (before 1967!)
Fact 2 : There is no differnece between the Mad-Left & the Neo-Nazi's when the question of the Jews-State is raised. I wonder why...

If the Palestinians don't like the wall, there is certainly something they can do about it: Stop murdering Jews. Stop the driveby shootings, the bombings, the kidnappings, the house invasions and murders. Then we won't need the wall and we will be more than happy to take it down.

On the other hand, for the Palestinians to keep sending their suicide assassins across and then complain about losing farmland is pure chutspah. (cheek)
