Spain and Portugal?s Blackout Reveals the Achilles? Heel of Electricity Grids Dominated by Wind and ... Tue Apr 29, 2025 17:00 | Anonymous Engineer
The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

An Excess of Pity: Why We Fail to Deport Those Whom We Should Deport Tue Apr 29, 2025 15:00 | Dr David McGrogan
Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

And how come they say "At the last minute however, the Philosophical Society was forced to withdraw Tony’s invitation". When it was known a full week ago that he was not coming!
I love the Seamus the Leprechaun with pig in the parlour image of Ireland in the 21st century. They probably reckon France is full of ould lads on bikes with onions around their necks.
Pathetic fascist fucks...
Like every nationality there are a few who create an ideology out of it, thease are not people they are Brits, Irish, Scots, Amerikkkan or whatever, they are not people. People do not need nationality, borders, skin color or the thousand other diffrences that these non-people would rule us by.
The dismisive tone used in conextion with 'socialists' is funny. I agree with the sentiment, Sod the SWP, SP, WP and SF can fuck of as well
So what you stopped a party with no support and no possibility of gaining it in this country from speaking and now your patting each other on the back.
Do Maoists allow free speech?
did the state capitalist regimes allow free speech.
who decides. You?
What the fuck is the point of this post or your life.
I want the world remade but not by you you pathetic little fuck.
It can be assumed that people attending the philosophical society debate would be reasonably intelligent people and perfectly capable of figuring out how bad the Fascist arguements are.
The fact that it was a DEBATE meant that every lie put forward by the fascists could have been refuted by opposing speakers. (I'm not sure if it was a formal debate or not but it would certainly have plenty of time for discussion at the end)
Philosophers still study work by Neitsche (all humans have an inate will to power) heidegger (nazi who basically believed that he was the only conscious agent in his universe therefore everybody else could be used as he saw fit), machiavelli (wrote the imperialists handbook) and all other types of undesirable people, To bury these people and hide them in the hope that nobody will ever be exposed to their ideas will result in the formation of badly informed cults because these arguements can be very powerful taken in isolation.
Open debate up, allow ideas to be criticised properly and shine lights into those shadows, give them nowhere to hide
A fringe party taking it upon themselves to determiine who has the right to free speech. The SWP SP AFA are the real facists in this instance.
Extreme right wing parties can be exposed if one has the ability and nous. The phillisoph have the confidence and erudition to do this . The SWPAFASP front are welll aware of their limitations. Nazi nazi nazi out out otu is about the extent of it.
They hide the glory of the beloved fuhrer from the world, they try to deny their love of the fuhrer and their desire to fullfill the fuhrer's wishes and reinstate the fuhrer's regieme and new world order.
They are ashamed of the fuhrer, and they pretend to have nothing to do with the fuhrer.
Why are they so ashamed of their love for ze fuhrer, his dreams of a superior pure aryan race and love of concentration camps.
Having attended TCD Phil debates more than once in the past I can assure you, the image of them being educated and erudite explorers of the truth is not only laughable, but it is slightly disturbing the awe inspired worship of the self-appointed TCD intellecutals is still existing.
On a slightly more serious note I have to say I am in two minds on the issue. For a very long time I was a strong supporter of the no free speech for fascists argument.
It was the Jorg Haider thing last year that got me thinking more and more about whether it was right to defend free speech by attacking those who wish to avail of it.
I still support picketing such events, and taking an aggressive anti-fascist posture but forbidding them places to speak is something I am increasingly having difficulty with.
Looking at the BNP in England, I note that in the Council where they are the largest party, they couldn't even fulfill their role in putting forward a alternative spending proposal, the main thing the main opposition party has to do in an English local council.
Their councillors have been exposed time and again as incompetent, lazy and shiftless. Their vote, since the dramatic breakthrough of May 2003, has not made much movement. In fact they've dropped seats.
In short, when allowed debate and take part in the political process, they are being exposed as useless.
This is not to mitigate the dangers of fascism. Anyone with experience of the Six Counties knows that fascist death squads were operated by the British military, but I am increasingly of the opinion that these people should be confront on every field of struggle, including debates.
Had I my way, Tony Wentworth would have been made by a local, vocal and peaceful protest to make it clear how little support he had before being confronted in the debate. I haven't come down hard one way or the other yet.
martin mccauley sinn fein councillor murdered by the sas while on active duty for a certain related paramiltary group.
I have just seen the "article"/ statement. I was fairly amused at how they portrayed Ireland and labeled us as the "Liberal" left.
I also noticed a number of errors in the article, perhaps this is me just being pickey, but the image which proports to be Jorg Haidar is not Haidar but indeed a member of the Phil.
If anyone recognises this man perhaps it might be an idea to alert him that his image is being used by a far right party.
It would appear that certain irish left wing groups have obviously missed the irony too.
You get no free speach because.. emmm.. because you are against free speach?
Selective free speach? - i mean, it was going to be an open debate not a rally.
First they came for the bnp but i didnt speak out because i was an anarchist..
Would anyone actually show any evidence that the BNP are against free speech, the parties that oppose them are we know. But could it be possible that the BNP are more democratic then the SWP, SP, AFA and Sinn Fein. (not a difficult task I know)
Theres a link provided below to an article on how anti fascists are the new fascists.
