mp3 19min interview with Mark Colville, Ploughshares Activist in US.

In this interview, Mark also outlines the background to the Ploughshares movement, to the Catholic Worker and explores the meaning of religion in a time of perpetual war.

This interview was recorded in Binghamton, New York, with Mark Colville on Sept 21st, 2005 (a hot and sunny 10 am.).

Mark is an experienced part of the Ploushares Movement - for international direct action against military. The Ploughshares Movement began in 1980, and it sprung from the Catholic Worker, an anarchist wing of the Church, a wing which lets actions speak louder than words.

Mark is of the New Haven Catholic Worker, in Connecticut USA, and in the interview, he gives a comprehensive and meaningful insight into the dynamic behind Ploushares and Catholic Worker.

The interview was given outside the Federal Courthouse in Binghamton where "the St. Patrick's Four" were on trial for their Ploughshares action in March 2003.

The next trial of Ploughshares takes place in Dublin, Ireland on October 24th, 2005. The Pitstop Ploughshares damaged a US navy plane at Shannon Airport in February 2003.

30,000 US troops use Shannon as a pit-stop on their way to or from Iraq each month; not to speak of transport of military ordinance and 'extraordinary renditions' (torture-bound "illegal non-combattants".
