The Met Office exists to forecast the weather. So why has it deliberately chosen an unrealistic scenario to predict climate doomsday by 2070, asks Matt Ridley in the Telegraph.

Damning new video of US Marines demolishing home of Iraqi family for fun

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Saturday December 23, 2006 09:41author by Paul Doran Report this post to the editors

Sickening video emerges of atrocity

The following is a video made by US Marines and posted on the youtube video sharing website.
Parodying the US show "Extreme Makeover" the soldiers set about rigging the home of an innocent Iraqi family with explosives and razing it to the gound.

If anyone needs proof if proof were needed that Americans soldiers are committing daily war crimes against the Iraqi people this is it.

The utter callousness of these animals must be seen to be believed.

They are thinking of re-introducing the draft in the United States.
Maybe this is their idea of a promotional video. The end-game relies
on masses of troops and no-one wants to go there.

RESIST THE DRAFT.

The video along with others in the same group are very, very sick. Music and rap and all the glamour of professionally made videos to psych up youngsters and make them believe the killing and ravages of Bush's war are somehow normal and show their own "honour", "courage" and "commitment"

A quote from Shakespeare added along the way: "CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR".

The follow up to that quotation would be more suitable for the war they are engaged in:

"THIS FOUL DEED SHALL SMELL ABOVE THE EARTH WITH CARRION MEN GROANING FOR BURIAL"

Curiously homerotic.

Pathetic when you can safely assume few of those depicted have a word of Arabic between them. There terms of reference remain the TV shows they were raised with. They do not have a clue in what context (political or geographic) they are operating in or about the foe they are engaging. Reminiscent of the closing scenes of "Downfall" as the Nazis party on as the Red Army nears. Also interesting to contrast how long the insurgency in Iraq has to plant roadside bombs compared to the limited time available to the Provos. They are losing this war. This is trailer for the walking dead.

This is the cannon fodder that is shuttled through Shannon on a daily basis. Ireland sits back and averts its gaze.

Ah, the poor wee lads, far away from home and having to make their own entertainment, god bless them! Sure shouldn't the Iraqis be grateful that they didn't decide to rape them? And if they had done, sure what's the harm? Don't be so anal!

"An innocent Iraqi family"? Do you recognise the house or something? Where do you get that from? Aren't you been told throughout the video that it's the home of an insurgent.... Not that I believe that eaither. It's probably just a tactics-town type house built purely for combat practice that they no-longer have use of. They're just letting off steam in as harmless a way possible for people with access to that sort of munition. The weapons were probably siezed and unsafe and had to be distroyed anyway, so they put some imagination into doing up a "funny" video - (not that I find it particularly amuzing, it is fairly daft).

All the same, no Iraqis were harmed in the making of this video and it just simply serves to let the lads let off some steam in a controlled environment while serving duty in a country which is clearly a hazerdous working environment for them.

Don't be so anal.
