Lt Ehren Watada VS The war in Iraq

category international | anti-war / imperialism | opinion/analysis author Monday June 25, 2007 18:25author by Sheldon - noneauthor email chip1961 at gmail dot comauthor phone 1-803-237-6537 Report this post to the editors

An uphill battle

The Iraq war was won and lost a long time ago. Now it's time to get out and go home. Like Vietnam the United States is fighting an enemy that will not give up. Like Vietnam the US is fighting an enemy on their home turf. Like Vietnam more and more Americans are turning against the powers that be that got us into this war. Unlike Vietnam we won the war and now comes the cost.

It is time to pull out of Iraq. Army Lieutenant Ehren Watada has put his career and his very life on the line to see an end to this war and to see the troops withdrawn. But his cries and those that oppose this inhumane and unjust war go unheard. My father served during the Vietnam War and many of my relatives were directly in the "Nam." For or against that conflict we all agree that was a war we lost. At a high price. Now we are repeating history again. Everyday more and more soldiers and civilians get killed. From all countries. But our obstinate administrations refuse to get out of this war. Why? Because of interests be they oil or gas or strategic or miscellaneous. Many fear that if we leave than our enemies will follow us back home. Many feel that Iraq will fall back into chaos. Many don't know what to think. So many mistakes and missteps are happening. The Bush administration takes on new personnel at all levels it seems on a continuos basis. Perhaps his own administraion and GOP party will find itself leaderless by proxy.
