Protest against companies that profit from Israeli Military

CRH and Caterpillar profit from supplying IDF

C.R.H. & CATERPILLAR PROFIT FROM THE ISRAELI MILITARY
Protest at their offices
Meet at 6pm at the Belgard Luas stop (Red Line), Tuesday 20th January

Socialist Youth is organising a protest at the HQ of Cement Roadstone Holdings (CRH) and the Irish subsidiary of Caterpillar. Reasons to protest :
- to call for an end to the IDF's horrific onslaught Gaza that has
already led to the deaths of over 1,000 Palestinians, many
of whom are young people, children and babies.

- Multinationals like CRH and Caterpillar make massive profits
supplying the Israeli state with equipment to lay siege to
Palestine

- CRH supplies the Israeli state with cement to build a wall around the West Bank, effectively imprisoning Palestinians

- Caterpillar makes bulldozers that destroy Palestinian homes. A caterpilar bulldozer killed peace activist Rachel Corrie when she was working as a 'human shield' in Palestine. It also supplies equipment to build the separation wall.

How can you demonstrate against the Israeli Military machine, when your own party recognise the Racist Zionist State!!

What a revelation, the Socialist Party opposes a boycott of Israel! Well Degsy you are not exactly telling the world something new, the Sp doesn't keep this a secret in fact as you can see from your quote and link we publicly oppose the boycott and that was on our leaflets that we have been giving out all across Ireland. What we support is action by workers to stop arms and material assistance to the IDF. So your claim that SY were told by SP not to have the protest is rubbish.

is this because the Socialist Party full-timers told you you can't because that they are opposed to boycott actions on the Israeli state?

Boycotts

"Desire to punish the Israeli regime for its terrible aggression can fuel calls for a consumer boycott of Israeli goods and institutions. The example of the international boycott of the South African apartheid regime is sometimes given.

"However, it was a mass movement of black South African workers that ended apartheid and not the boycott. Neither is a boycott aimed at Israel likely to have a decisive impact, for a variety of reasons, including that Israeli big business operates in the Middle East and across the globe through many subsidiary companies, often deliberately to hide Israeli identity, especially when doing deals with Arab or Muslim companies.

"Also such boycotts play into the hands of the Israeli ruling class; it can use them to alienate Israeli workers from workers internationally, and draw Israeli workers behind its right-wing agenda. Boycott calls often originate from organisations that oppose the existence of Israel, which aids the propaganda of Israeli capitalism.

"More effective would be for workers internationally to prevent the export to Israel of the arms, aircraft and bulldozers that are being used in the occupied territories. This should be coupled with support for Israeli workers’ struggles against attacks on their living standards, because the route to removing the Israeli ruling class and its successive governments that repress the Palestinians, is through the development of the Israeli workers’ movement."
