AIPAC slams Obama for honoring 'anti-Israel' ex-Irish president

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on Tuesday slammed the Obama administration for its decision to give a former Irish president the presidential Medal of Freedom, saying they were "deeply disappointed" by the move.

In a statement, the pro-Israel group cited what it called Mary Robinson's "long public record of hostility and one-sided bias against the Jewish state" as making her unsuitable to receive the nation's highest civilian honor.

The statement cites Robinson's role in leading the "deeply flawed" UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) and for her supervision of the 2001 Durban Conference on Racism, which was boycotted by the United States and equated Zionism with racism.

The statement claims Robinson's conduct on the UNHRC was "deeply flawed" and "marred by extreme, one-sided anti-Israel sentiment", and cites a 2002 UNHRC vote that "sought to condone Palestinian suicide bombings and terrorism".

Israel is once again bleating that anyone criticising it is anti-Israeli and should be stoned, blah-blah. Israel should be in the dock for war crimes. They've even stopped at the border with Gaza a group of Irish cyclists going there on relief work. Slowly but surely Israel has lost the support of the US administration, who must begin to see this whimpering at criticism as a low-level bullying tactic.

"Long public record of hostility and one-sided bias against the Jewish state"

The fact that Israelis call their state "Jewish" says a lot.

"The Victims of Victims are the worst Victims."

Sure,the Jews were victims.

The Germans "Lebensraum" was meant to cleanse Europe of "Not Us."

What the hell are Israelis doing?

Same thing.

As for the argument that "It was Our Land"

The Welsh and the Scottish Celts better start demanding England back from the invading Saxons.

Palestinians have lived in israel for LONGER ( 2k years+) than the chosen people ever lived in Israel.
