Ireland's largest trade union, SIPTU held a 'dignity and respect in the workplace' day of action on Tuesday 31st August at the Boots flagship store, in Donegall Square, Belfast.

The day of action which included the distribution of SIPTU badges to workers in the store, was aimed at raising awareness on workers rights and promoting dignity and respect in the workplace.

Today, members of the Galway Alliance Against War held the first of a week-long series of lunchtime “Stop Blair” protests outside Eason’s store on Shop St Galway. There was a positive response from locals and tourists alike to the posters and leaflets labelling Blair a war criminal. Last Sunday the President of Ireland , Mary Mc Aleese, was in Italy to address an arch conservative and right wing Italian Catholic powerful organisation called 'Communione e Liberazione' ( Communion and Liberation )
The question must be asked who was she representing at this prestigious event attended by the right wing Berlusconi Government and by mainly arch conservative catholic churchmen.
Was she acting on her own initiative , had she got permission from the Irish Govenment to address this most divisive organisation and was she being used by this organisation to give it further international credibility. read full story / add a comment

TOn 16 August last, the BBC Panaroma team broadcasted a programme on the killing of 9 people on the Mavi Marmara on 31 May 2010. It turned out to be loaded with misrepresentation, lack of truth and bias. Nobel Laureate Mairead Maguire who was on board the MV Rachel Corrie, part of the same flotilla as the Mavi Marmara, here demands a reply from the BBC Panorama team that falsified the evidence and biased it in favour of Israeli propaganda read full story / add a comment

Sweden's fur industry has been forced out into the spotlight by the group Animal Rights Alliance (Djurrättsalliansen) who recently published a year and half long investigation.
The group visited 20% of Sweden's fur factory farms and found rights violations including minks crammed into tiny cages, death, deprivation of essential needs, mutilations, infected animals and psychotic behaviour from been unable to cope with this existence.

At a meeting in Belfast on 16 August, socialist and trade union activists agreed to form the Stop the Cuts Alliance in order to build opposition to the cuts from Westminster and Stormont. It's first decision was to call a protest against cuts at 1pm outside Belfast City Hall on 29 September - as part of the day of action called by the European Trade Union Confederation.
