The consequences of the theoretical division between Bakunin and Marx have been huge. Historically we have seen, not a unified labour movement, but in fact three main components of the movement – Labourism, as well as Marxism/socialism and anarcho-syndicalism. There have been sporadic attempts to link the two main components: • Joseph Dietzgen’s turn to assist the victims of the Haymarket "bomb. • Daniel Guerin’s anarchist publications. • The German council communists’. • The Friends of Durruti Group’s. But these are a few exceptions, and the barriers of division are continually being erected with scares, smears and misinformation. If we are to even think of winning the common struggle, some unity will have to be reached and the truth about past events, beyond Marx and Bakunin, both clarified and placed firmly in the history books. read full story / add a comment

Kerry gets nowhere because he says he would do the same thing Bush did, only differently. 'What I want to do is change the dynamics on the ground,' Kerry volunteered. 'And you have to do that by beginning to not back off of Falluja and other places and send the wrong message to terrorists. You've got to show you're serious.' Right on, John!" http://www.antiwar.com/roberts/?articleid=3760 http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=3713 read full story / add a comment

“Israel has the right to defend and to protect itself” is one of the empty phrases which Americans constantly repeat. What they really mean each time when they repeat this phrase is that they have abandoned all attempts to conceal the fact that they have become but a satrapy of Israel, and that they can do nothing to deny Israel the "right" to occupy the West Bank and Gaza, the right to "protect" the settlers and ITF occupation and the continued violations of human rights. Israel has the right to kill, to steal, to arrest, to demolish ... to do just anything. read full story / add a comment

Below is an article by well known Indy media commentator Marc Mulholland. It is possibly the best and most honest explanation of a pro war stance that I have come across and raises many interesting points for debate. Gambling on Revolution For those who supported the Iraq War as a punt on the prospects of detonating democratic revolution in the country and by extension in the region – sections of the Neocon Right and the Liberal Left – the question of realism is critical if we are not to be condemned as dilettante utopians. read full story / add a comment |
