I'm all for supporting national liberation when there is real ethnically based oppression going on, (however only as stepping stone to further class based liberation). However the people of mercia are no more being oppressed than any other part of england. I mean I support their struggle against the powers that be but I think their energies could be better spent on a longer term goal other than just creating another nation state.
but of course i support self determination for mercia. provided they dont call for a socialist federation of the british isles ;)

However, I wish to announce that we in the SP have taken stock of the new situation facing us. The objective situation has decisively changed. New class battles impend in the coming period. We are in a period of sharp turns and sudden changes. Conditions are ripening for the most revolutionary period in human history - these will be the red 2000s.
