The Strange Death of Knowing Stuff Wed Dec 24, 2025 19:00 | Dave Summers
In his Sixth Form Christmas quiz this year, none of Dave Summers's students could name the author of To Kill a Mockingbird ? previously one of the easy questions. Another sign that wokery is dissolving our culture.

If Christmas songs fall foul of Labour's 'banter ban', Christmas carols ? with their 'offensive' assertions of the divinity of Christ that are deemed blasphemous by Islam ? are even more likely to, says Julian Mann.

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3The Polish 1st Armored Division truly began as the 10th Mechanized Brigade in 1939. Known as the "Black Brigade" for its distinctive black-leather uniform jackets, it was in fact Poland's only major mechanized unit at the time of the German invasion. Heavily outnumbered and outgunned, the 10th Mech Brigade gave an excellent account of itself during the September Campaign. Covering the retreat of Army Krakow and participating in counteroffensives in the Lwow area, Maczek and his men proved themselves more than a match for the Germans. After the fall of Poland, many of the officers and men escaped into Hungary and Romania, to later go further on to France. Luckily for the Allied cause, General Stanislaw Maczek, the able commander of the 10th Mech, was among them. ....
Louise, you were moving right along at a good clip, making some sense, but your argument concerning Bush at the end beggars belief:
'Bewitched by the prospect of stability, American leaders in fact sowed the seeds of the Cold War. President Bush does not intend to repeat their mistake. He clearly rejects the notion that big countries have some right to dominate smaller neighbors'.
How you, Bush or anyone with any brain cells at all can say that Bush rejects this 'notion', when in fact he is attempting to dominate Iraq even as we speak by unleashing the horrors of war onto its people month after month after month in the hollow name of so-called 'democracy'--in other words, Iraq will be FREE when Bush has raped its resources, killed its dissenters and installed its American-led puppet regime. Then if any other country wants to do something Bush doesn't like, he will wreak the same terror onto it--all in the bullshit name of freedom.
Get real Louise.
On January 30 2005 the Iraqi people voted overwhelmingly for the formation of a democratic government. That could not have come about with Saddam Hussein still in power. Saddam was not going to walk away without a fight so Bush gave him one.
The likes of Al-Zarqawi, foreign jihadists, the Baathists and the Sunni insurgents who are wreaking havoc among the civilian population with suicide bombs are raping Iraq. They must be fought and crushed.
The Iraqis deserve no less than that.
