The purpose of the Lisbon Treaty research is to offer the voters of Ireland objective arguments on the Lisbon Treaty, with facts and evidence with substance, and an objective discussion of the legal, political, economical and social considerations of the Treaty. The purpose of this article (see below the video) is to provide further support to the statement upheld by politicians, academic and legal experts that the Lisbon Treaty is a constitution. The emphasis on this fact is vital because from this fact it follows that the Lisbon Treaty needs referendum not only in Ireland but in all of the 27 EU member states. Because the Lisbon Treaty a constitution, it is crucial to understand that no constitution ever permits the act of overthrowing it, i.e never allows the act of replacing it with another one without the permission of a country's citizens. Therefore the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty without referendums in the other 26 states, is a dictatorial power-grab over Europe. (Please see the document referred at the end of the article.) With this article we wish to call Ireland to Vote NO to Lisbon Treaty! This is a brief link to the Irish Safe and Legal campaign, who have linked to the Pro-choice Majority Campaign in Britain in relation to the attempt through legislation to reduce the Upper Abortion Limit, as part of the HFEB Bill . By creating a provincial parliament for the nine counties of Ulster, within the framework of a new Ireland the partition system would be disestablished and the problem of the border removed. The Protestant people of Ulster would have a working majority and would have immediate access to power. Furthermore, the devolution of power to the local level would ensure for each community the opportunity to foster its own traditions and culture. Each region and community would have within itself the immediate power to deal with its own social and economic problems. Such devolution of power from one central authority to the people is the essence of democracy. The Nationalist population would be of sufficient strength to ensure a strong and credible opposition within reach of power. For the first time in fifty years we would see a normalization of politics with an end to the domination of one community by another and the resultant frustration and conflict. read full story / add a comment

On a day when the UN released a report that 70% of women suffer poverty and only own 1% of the world's titled land, which is a common inheritance of all people I decided to look at media coverage of the issues. The Irish Times had the report in small paragraph without title or reference to the committee release. And I could not find it elsewhere. Addressing the root cause of women's poverty is not a simple prospect, afterall, National Governments do not listen to women. Twenty ten is the date the HSE say a Cystic Fibrosis unit will be built. Proudly they boast of “fast-tracking” this process to deliver the care that has being so desperately needed for years. This “spin” is never more quickly put into perspective than when a mother or father, brother or sister weep and stare at tossed soil which is beginning to settle where their loved one lays. The upcoming referendum for the Treaty of Lisbon, only voted for by the people of Ireland will determine the future of all European member states. The Treaty is basically a redraft of the EU Treaty rejected by the people of France and Holland, although the majority of political partys where campaigning for a Yes vote in both countries. The Treaty of Lisbon will passed now in France and Holland and all other member states without ratification.
