On the 04/09/07 there was a press release detailing a possible mis-diagnosis problem in relation to the mammogram service at Portlaoise Hospital, the press release said that there were possibly 5,000 women effected and there was no press release from Mary Harney's Department. The
Hospital board and the HSE managed the timed release of materials including the fact that
many of the patients had been on the Treatment Purchase Fund Scheme. This info emanated
in the direct aftermath of Ms Harney's travelling to Barrington's Hospital in Cork where up to
1,000 women were similarly effected. Today there is a press release from DOHC which is
written in response to emergent details of 8 women with a diagnosis of cancer who had
been cleared and 19 awaiting second opinions. http://www.dodc.ie/press/releaes/2007/200711102b.html read full story / add a comment

Last Wednesday the Tehran regime marked Halloween with some more union bashing. Ebrahim Madadi’s, vice-president of the Trade Union in the Tehran Vahed Bus Company, was sentenced to two years in jail. Mr. Madadi was tried on the allegation of acting against “national security”. I guess they really mean that unions make the Iran bosses feel insecure. read full story / add a comment

The Lisbon Treaty is at this time according to the Irish Times, 'In doubt' due to a big drop off in support for the re-negotiated Reform Treaty which sees the EU member states dropping the article on rights (article 3.3) and retaining for the most part the main body of the rejected Nice II Treaty. The next thing on the EU agenda is a meeting with the African nations in Lisbon toward the end of the year which aims to set in pace the economic architecture for further bi-laterals and free trade agreements which undercut these nations and have brought quality of life issues into the community airwaves and NGO's;- http://www.indymedia.ie/article/84739 read full story / add a comment

This other press text lets you the aware reader see the declaration which kicked off the 2007 state of Emergency in Pakistan. It's a great little number which has already spawned a comprehensive encyclopedia page on English language wikipedia & means that the chances of numerous intelligent young Pakistani or Pakistani looking people, or even intelligent older people with Pakistani surnames getting their blogs noticed or opinions published are very good. It's great to be Pakistani. General Musharraf reckons his is the way to preserve that greatness whilst other worthy Pakistani politicians are coming out of the exile woodwork to volunteer to take him on. One favoured by RTE speaking from Saudi Arabia reckons things are going to Anarchy. Lovely you might think. Time to brush up on your coup d'etat statements & know this how to fight the mad mullahs. read full story / add a comment
