“We’re marching in the park, but we should be marching in the streets but we’re fenced in like animals, while the other animals are outside. We are here to support our brothers and sisters of Latvia with the atrocities they have to go through in a homophobic society.” Audio interview.

There are three audio recordings. The first is a collection of peoples thoughts and descriptions of the experience of the day, the second and third are an interview with Anna, a spokesperson from Mozaika, who kindly shared some time to tell some more of the story of Human Rights in Latvia. read full story / add a comment

Demonstration at Meath Council Offices in Navan at 12pm.on Tuesday 3rd July. 2007
The Meath County Council's confusing system unnecessarily causes the deaths of innocent animals and also causes distress to those Meath people who cannot locate their lost animal companions.County Meath has no Dog Pound for Meath Dogs.

WE CALL ON MEATH COUNTY COUNCIL TO IMPLEMENT THE FOLLOWING TWO CHANGES:

HOLD THE MEATH DOGS AT A MEATH LOCATION (not in LOUTH )

How are caring humans to track down and locate a dog who has strayed or been picked up by a warden in County Meath if the dogs are moved to Collon Co Louth or to Dundalk Pound every Tuesday for killing on a Wednesday.

Dundalk Pound facilitates Meath Council by allowing Meath dogs to be killed read full story / add a comment

( Paulina Grzesiowska of the police in Nowy Dwor Gdanski which is the most popular stretch of Polish beach on the Baltic has announced new application of a law dating from the Communist regime. From now on topless sunbathers or people who bare any other bit of intimate flesh will face fines of 100 zlotys or 25 euros. Prof. Zbigniew Lew-Starowicz a noted sexologist was reported by Warsaw's "metro" newspaper as thinking they're repressed and "not winning any Blue Flags".) read full story / add a comment

I thought MIchael Warschawski's views on the latest development in Gaza, written on June 18 and coming from a Jewish anti-Zionist perspective, may be instructive for some of our local defenders of Israel.....and, of course, an eye-opener for some of our 'left' Islamophobes....

Peader de Bluit

Tá seanfhocal ciallmhar sa Gaeilge a deir, "Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí". Tá nath ábharaín éagsúil ag an gluaiseacht seo áfach. Is minic na laethanta go gcloistear á rá, "Mol an Ógra agus tiocfaidh siad". Tá an meoin seo ag fás le tamaill agus an t-aos óg sa gluaiseacht ag iarraidh tógáil, agus béim a cur ar pholaitíocht óige. Sé sin le rá go mbeadh inchur níos mó ag an t-aos óg, todhchaí na gluaiseachta agus na tíre, i gcúrsaí ar leith.

The Independent Workers’ Union exposed the latest case of the exploitation of migrant workers in the Celtic Tiger Economy. The case concerns seven Chinese females all working for Klean Fit limited located at unit 1, Old River House, Templegoue, Dublin 6 West.

The dispute arises with the owner of the company, Ms. Anita Ryan, who has issued a series of bounced cheques to the workers as wage payment. This now results with the employer owing the workers 11,323.51 euro between them.........

Wednesday night saw the launch of summer solstice festivities on the Hill of Tara. Singer Laura Murphy opened the event, with people gathering to camp out and be present for the Thursday sunrise,
on the longest day of the year.

Different groups are holding one-off events on Tara during the coming days. TaraWatch has a schedule of events they are presenting until Sunday. These will be followed by a demonstration outside the Department of the Environment on Monday.

Music on Thursday morning will begin at 4.45 am, with harpist Laoise
Kelly performing until the sunrise, at approximately 6.00 am. Paul
Casey O'Bheal will do invocations of poetry, followed by more music
from Wilson Noble and Martin Furey.
