Hi folks!
In the most hysterical hatchet-job to date on the campaign against Shell's discredited and disastrous inland refinery experiment in north Mayo, Sunday World crime-fighter Paul Williams turns shock jock as he presents a "documentary" about the Corrib Gas project on TV3 at 9pm on Tuesday, 2nd June. To accompany what is set to be an entertaining farce, we bring you a one-off Telly Bingo game so you can track whether any facts, relevant information or editorial balance creeps into the show. read full story / add a comment

Yesterday, in the Galway Alliance Against War organised 99 Red Balloons Peace Event, revulsion and outrage were expressed against the highjacking of the relatively pristine Volvo Ocean Race to piggy back a display by the RAF Red Arrows over Galway Bay, touting militarism with their bullshit antics in the sky and catering to the desensitized appetites of the faithful down below - some of whom, in the throes of their warped morality hurled abuse at the peace mongers assembled in the Spanish Arch Plaza. read full story / add a comment

Since 2006, MAOR have been actively engaged in a surprising range of activities that push the boundaries of political discussion and bring the issues to the streets, the airwaves and back to communities. This week MAOR Street Theatre Group took to the streets of Derry in an exciting street theatre event, highlighting the human rights abuses perpetrated by Multinational giants that the Irish government is happy to do business with. Earlier this week Royal Dutch Shell went on trial for complicity in the torture and killing of Nigerian protestors in 1995. read full story / add a comment

Shell to Sea Galway pulled off a great publicity stunt last Saturday on the first night of the Galway ocean races of which Topaz is a main sponsor. The aim was to inform people that Topaz is Shell and encourage people to boycott Topaz. They arranged for a Kila member to wear a Shell to Sea t-shirt while playing on the Topaz mainstage, handed out fliers in the crowd and had several anti-shell/anti-topaz banners in the area. One banner which read 'Let's Do It Galway, Send Shell to Hell, Corribsos.com' was unfurled at the foot of the stage while Kila was playing, and when security attempted to take the banner from Shell to Sea and Climate Camp activists in the crowd, a Kila member came down from the stage, retrieved the banner from the security guard, and put it up on stage for everyone to see! read full story / add a comment

Dmitry Orlov who is perhaps now one of the most well known people in the Peak Oil community will be coming to Dublin in June and will be giving a public lecture titled: Creative Solutions for the New Emergency on Tues 9th June in the Davenport Hotel, Dublin 2.

Dmitry will be here to take part in a Feasta organised conference from 10th to 12th June and will be a keynote speaker in that event.

Dmitry Orlov, author of Reinventing Collapse, will explore the question "What is it that we are looking at here, and what can we do about it?" He believes that there is not much hope for a global financial system and economy, nor should there be given the huge problems it is causing with the environment. If this is the case, then what can people do, in terms of coping with financial collapse, creating community resilience, and re-skilling for the new, local, self-reliant, highly manual age that is coming? read full story / add a comment

The long running struggle in Erris (Rossport) against Shell's attempt to impose an experimental gas pipeline on the local community has erupted in recent days with repeated local direct actions against the compound Shell are trying to construct. Meanwhile the state, at the behest of Shell, continues to press vindictive prosecutions against local activists. Back in March retired school teacher Maura Harrington for jailed for 30 days, today the state returned for another pound of flesh and she was sentenced to another 7-10 days in Mountjoy prison. At very short notice over 20 activists from Dublin Shell to Sea gathered at the prison gates and showed their outrage by blocking the entrance of the prison van containing Maura in to Mountjoy for about twenty minutes. read full story / add a comment
