Noam Chomsky the long time hero of the Left, defender of democracy, campaigner for human rights has finally outed himself as part of the controlled opposition. Chomsky has been around for years and wrote the famous Manufacturing Consent about how the media controls the public narrative. Yet as the decades past, it became apparent some subjects were taboo and in particular any sort of fishy incident like 9/11 he would row in with the narrative. This was a way of guiding his followers of which there are many along certain carefully well defined paths and off other ones. Indymedia Ireland was 20 years old this month, on Oct 10th in fact. It has been a long road to here and at times debateable whether it would survive in the latter years. This short article gives a quick overview of its history and where it is now. Back in 2001 the big anti-globalisation demonstrations of Seattle 1999 were still fresh in people's minds when the first Indymedia centers were setup and the network was still rapidly growing.
