Libya: Saving the revolution killed the revolution
international / rights, freedoms and repression / other press Friday April 01, 2011 18:36 by Moshé Machover   image 1 image
Moshé Machover is an Israeli Socialist and Anti Zionist. He addressed addressed last weekend's CPGB aggregate on the defeat of the Libyan revolution, Al-Jazeera, and the goal of Arab unity. Full text at the link.

Of course, the quantity of oil Libya offers is next to nothing in comparison to Saudi Arabia, but it is its quality which makes them interested in it. It is just about the best oil you can find, particularly for aircraft fuel...

Long serving members of staff are currently paid a premium for Sunday work and public holidays, a long and well established practice to compensate for working unsocial hours.

To the great dismay of the very many people internationally who are working selflessly, to improve public health by urging governmental reconsideration of current obsolete national standards of permissible exposure to microwave radiation it appears that witnesses, including Prof. Olle Johansson, Sweden, Dr.. Annie Sasco, France, and Dr. Dimitris Panagopoulos, Greece have suffered academic persecution at least in part for having rendered great public service by testifying before the Canadian Parliament. read full story / add a comment

1. NATO bombing, no solutionJust eight years after they launched their shock-and-awe devastation of Baghdad and ten years after their invasion of Afghanistan, the same Western forces are pummelling yet another Muslim state with bombs, burning soldiers and tanks and killing civilians in the process.

Yet again, the claim is that their intervention is a question of moral principle. The passing of the UN security Resolution 1973 which authorised the bombing, was held up as an attempt to protect the Libyan rebels and stop Gaddafi brutally slaughtering his people. Why, then, did the same Western powers provide Gaddaffi with the arms that are now slaughtering the Libyan people? read full story / add a comment

The ongoing Fukushima nuclear crisis has raised numerous concerns, the candor of pronouncements regarding the reality of circumstances being one of them. As many wonder what the future will hold, the events reported in this article suggest some possible conclusions, the facts being less than reassuring.

Full text and links to article's source documents only available on Common Dreams at url below.

As radiation counts elevate in Japan, news of nuclear contamination spreading across a widening spectrum of life and its necessities, official pronouncements continue to play down events’ gravity. While some have questioned whether this is being pursued to promote calm, or perhaps the nuclear industry, the result has left many either skeptical of official claims or simply reassured by them. It seems time for some difficult facts. read full story / add a comment
