Among the taxation proposals being mooted by government for the next and subsequent budgets is an extension of tax to the lower paid. This is to be accompanied by continued draconian reductions in the provision of health, education and other services required by the population generally and particularly by the poor. Government cuts and impositions on the poor and those on middle incomes who spend most of their income in Ireland will flatten the economy and increase the disastrous levels of unemployment and emigration. read full story / add a comment

Commenting on David Cameron’s recent speech, Martin Óg Meehan of the Republican Network for Unity (RNU) said; “In a few sentences the Tory Leader has confirmed what so many of us have believed since its inception. The path to Irish unity does not exist on the pages of the Good Friday Agreement, in fact it is filled with myths and illusions foisted upon Republicans for 12 years. Those who voiced their concerns on this aspect alone have been the brunt of smear campaigns, intimidation and political policing. read full story / add a comment

We'll be returning to Mayo on Saturday 16th October, to protest the Charles River laboratory in Ballina. We normally wouldn't protest the lab on a weekend, but we have reason to believe that there is more activity during these days than we had initially expected. We haven't booked a mini-bus this time, and are relying on cars for transport. If you can offer lifts, please get in touch immediately! For those who cannot drive, book your place as soon as possible as seating will be limited. read full story / add a comment

We all remember the slogan's so well, 'Yes for Jobs and Investment', from the soldiers of misfortune, 'Yes it's that important' from the latte supping continental sophisticated lot, and even got exposed to a pair of melons and a tight pair of EU branded Speedos in a sexed up poster campaign from the blue shirts, all in promotion and pursuit of a yes vote for the Lisbon Treaty this time last year.

Yassamine Mather writes on how the sanctions against Iran have developed into Warfare. But in thiis case the Imperialist-Zionist attack consists of Cyber Warfare. Full text at link. While Israel, the US and Britain keep up their rhetoric of ultimatums and threats against Iran, and escalate the siege warfare of economic sanctions, Hands Off the People of Iran has been warning of the very real and ominous danger of a so-called pre-emptive attack. Now things have taken an unexpected and dangerous turn. Throughout the last couple of months Iran’s nuclear plants as well as a number of major industrial complexes have been targeted by a sophisticated piece of malware: Stuxnet. read full story / add a comment
