It is estimated that between 60,000 to 80,000 one year old farmed salmon have escaped from a salmon farm at Gerahies, Bantry Bay, County Cork with an added undetermined number of smaller fish escaping after a bad storm on Saturday 1st February 2014. Save Bantry Bay said: ‘We are particularly concerned because of the very real likelihood of further escapees. The protective nets have been stripped by the gales and the seas are overtopping the cages, allowing salmon to escape and predators like seals to enter.’ read full story / add a comment

US state dept diplomat Nuland "mutt" and Geoff are caught out nicely, in a hacked and leaked phone call.
In what is probably the most brazen feat of brass necked hypocrisy I've ever seen, the mainstream media have tried to make it about how awful the russians are for spying on them. And this after the Snowden revelations!!
"Fuck the EU" they say. But by far the worst thing about this is how they treat this uprising they are stoking with the aid of far right fascist thugs trained by NATO on the Russian border, like it's just some sort of a chess game. And of course the EU don't care much about the insult because they are all on exactly the same page, as the second part of the transcript clearly illustrates. The next peace vigil at Shannon Airport will take place on Sunday February 9th from 2pm to 3pm. The airport continues to be used as a U.S. military base, with the full support of the Irish government but not the Irish people. This month we are asking for a large turnout as a mark of solidarity with imprisoned peace activist Margaretta D'Arcy. Margaretta normally attends the monthly peace vigils at Shannon but she has been imprisoned by the State because she opposes the U.S. military use of the airport. read full story / add a comment

On the heels of the recent global outcry condemning the brutal and inhumane dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is inviting supporters and all concerned individuals to join with us and our Sea Shepherd Cove Guardians in targeted demonstrations on February 14, 2014 against Taiji’s brutal capture and slaughter of dolphins. On February 14, 2014, from 12 noon - 3pm. Sea Shepherd Ireland will be holding a gathering at the Embassy of Japan in DUBLIN to stand in solidarity with the Cove Guardians in demanding an end to the bloodshed in Taiji. Sea Shepherd invites anyone who cares about dolphins to join us for peaceful “World Love for Dolphins” gathering on Valentine’s Day to raise our voices for the dolphins. On a day meant to celebrate love, we will show Japan the love felt by the people of the world for dolphins. “St. Valentine’s Day" is the perfect time to stand with Sea Shepherd Ireland at the Embassy of Japan and tell the Japanese government that the world holds dolphins very near and dear to our hearts and we will not tolerate this brutal slaughter by a small group of men who are dishonoring Japan to sell dolphins to the captive industry. We hope that you will turn out to show your love for dolphins and ask Japan to end the needless killing,” said Susan Hartland, Administrative Director, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society USA. read full story / add a comment

NO INNOCENT IRISH PEOPLE WERE FRAMED FOR THE MURDER OF AIREY NEAVE, THE MOST SENIOR BRITISH POLITICIAN EVER TO BE ASSASSINATED. The case remains ‘unsolved.’ ‘Unsolved,’ in 1970s parlance, means no innocent people were framed for it. But why? Why this departure from standard procedure in 1970s England? What was so special about Airey Neave - that they made an exception in his case? read full story / add a comment

Last night's Super Bowl has had the unintended consequence of bringing the 9/11 terror attacks back into the forefront of the public mind. The controversy began several months ago, when Seattle Sea Hawks coach Pete Carroll began voicing doubts about the nonsensical, official 9/11 conspiracy theory pushed by the US government and mainstream media. Carroll put many of the official conspiracies incongruities and alternate theory's to a retired, four star General Peter Chiarelli, a former US army Chief of Staff. read full story / add a comment
